Trouble installing eprom on 03 Tuono Racing

OK looking for a bit of help here. I recently got a 03 RSV Tuono Racing and also received all the race gear with it as well. The owner I bought it from had the oem boat anchor on it and never bothered to swap it for the titanium and the eprom ecu. So I went to install the titnaium slip-on and the eprom and ran into the problem below:

What I did is removed the oem eprom/board (item 1/2 in pic) from the base (item 3). Then placed the new eprom (549 US in pic) onto item 2, then placed 1/2 onto 3. When I put my key in, turned it to the right, everything seemed to light up and work but it started blinking "EFI" and would not start, just kicked over. I swapped back the oem eprom onto 2/3 and then it started right up. Is the race eprom supposed to come with another board (item 2)? Or am I doing something wrong? I made sure it was lined up the correct way. Any help would be appreciated, sorry if I am complicating this more, I tried searching the forum but couldn't find anything.

You figured it out in 2 minutes! Not bad.
2002 Tuono "R" #188. The original and 1st model Tuono ever made, and as far as I'm concerned the best looking.

Try plugging the new eprom #1 directly into the white connector#3 on the ECU without the daughterboard, #2 in your diagram.

What markings were on the chip you started with?

Your narrative indicates the 549US eprom was NOT in the ECU, and something else was, with a daughterboard (#2), between it and the fixed socket.
You then removed the other chip and installed the 549US with the original daughterboard.

The 549US is the standard eprom for use with the stock boat anchor exhaust.
It does not use a daughterboard.

The Evo Ti chip DOES use a daughterboard as a form of copy protection.

If you had a chip and daughterboard in the ECU and it was working, THAT was probably the EVO Ti, or another aftermarket chip that uses a different daughterboard for copy protection.

The 549US without daughterboard will run, but is poorly suited to the Ti EVO exhaust.

Post a picture of the other chip.

And remember to mind the notch orientation.

That makes sense. Yes, the 549US eprom was NOT in the ECU, something else was with a daughterboard #2 between it and the fixed socket. Well the original owner must have been running the other ECU with the stock boat anchor, because the Ti EVO exhaust is not on the bike, I have it sitting around.

I will post a pic of the other chip later and hopefully you can determine if that is the EVO Ti chip to be used with the EVO Ti exhaust.

Sorry to go off topic, but when you say 'All the race kit' does that include all the carbon extra's too?

If so, would you be up for selling any of them??

    Cool bike by the way

This is what is currently in the ECU, is this the Aprilia EVO eprom? If so that solves my issue.

Drilled bolts for lubrication and braking systems (race homologated)

That is the so called Ti chip for the Tuono and is the one you want in the bike, with the daughter board of course.
