Rip to the Tip - A Baja Adventure - MUST SEE

    Hey guys -

Long time no visit. Having been riding much street lately since I sorta got re consumed by riding motocross and off road. Getting back into the road thing but I thought I would share this with you all.

Last year this month I rode my dirt bike from the Mexico border all the way to Cabo San Lucas. It was 90% technical off road terrain that spanned 1500 miles in 8 days with much of it being Baja 1000 racecourse.

We had 40 riders (including some world champions like 11 time Baja 1000 winner Johnny Campbell) and 11 camera crew including a helicopter capturing it all. It was an amazing adventure coupled with complete tragedy as we lost a rider to injuries on the trip. After a year of preparation it is now going to be on TV.

If you have The Fuel Channel (action sports channel) on your cable I suggest you DVR it. Its going to be 5 different half hour episodes starting this Wed April 11.

Here is the current TV commercial trailer for it.

I rode over 3000 miles in Baja last year. Its desolate, challenging, beautiful, and an experience I will never forget.

Wow sounds like fun. I saw it was going to be on Monday at 9:00AM. DVR set. I've been spending a lot of time at ADVRider.com lately getting a vicarious thrill from some of the adventures people are taking. I've since picked up an XR650L and rounded up all the gear to take my own trip down there - at a slower pace perhaps. I did Silverado Canyon to Ortega via dirt a couple weekends ago just to test the waters.

    Hey Rob -
Long time no talk. I havent been on here much in the last few years. Just put my Tuono in the classifieds. Going to get a new Multi. Met up with Derbybrit a month or so ago. The XR's are fun. Good to see you riding off road.

Great show! Really enjoyed it and am definitely planning my own adventure. Was bummed to see you lost a rider. I wasn't expecting that. I've got a few domestic adventures planned as I prepare, but I've pretty much rounded up all my gear.

That was the heaviest day of my life. I was one of 2 Spanish speakers on the trip so I was involved in the emergency process. RIP Ox. He was a friend.

Intense. I was out in Lucerne Valley the night that truck rolled over into the crowd killing 8 (California 200). I was dumbstruck by the whole thing simply not believing what I was experiencing - Surreal.

So like in January I road my 450R from Barstow to Primm. Next I'm hitting Death Valley on the XR with camping gear etc. Again, I plan on doing Baja at my own pace, but how does one get in on the Rip to the Tip?

Rob - we should meet up for a day desert trail ride. Your intro to baja should be with Tim Morton and Baja Bound. A good ride to start out with is called the Baja Beach Bash in July. Its a big group ride that breaks up by skill level at times so you dont have to ride over your head if you dont want to. Its set up with hotels and chase vehicles / food / gas all mapped out. Wheelies down the beach, Baja 1k racecourse, single track, etc.

I am friends with Tim and he runs a great program. http://www.bajaboundmoto.com/
I am not sponsored by him or have an affiliation.. just a great way to get started in Baja.

Or ride with my buddy Chris "Trailboss" Steward and his wife Nancy Emde. http://trailbosstours.com/
Chris has been at it even longer than Tim Morton (who runs a good program) and is a lot of fun to ride/travel with. I've been the sweep rider on many many Trailboss rides.
