    fuel line coupling

Got a question for you experts regarding a minor issue with my rxv.

I was exiting the gym parking lot yesterday with a bit of ham on the throttle, and suddenly the bike died along with little torrent of gas on my left boot.

I figured it was the gas line. It was, it had popped loose from the coupling right off the pump. I trucked it home and put the the line back onto the pump, but it still slides off pretty easily, like with just a minor click.

I don't know how the coupling works, should it slide off by hand?

    Thanks for any input.

No, it shouldn't slide off. It's a pressure line and will pop off if not completely locked on. Try putting it back on and check to see if it is only catching on one of the ears. Rotate the hose while pushing it on and pushing the collar forward. Can't say I've heard of one on an *XV failing, but I have seen some Duc ones go south.

Follow up: turns out the female side of the fitting failed somehow, the ears weren't clipping around the ridge on the male side. A new one fixed the problem.

Luckily it went out only a mile or so from home!
