piston cylinder clearance

Hey everyone

I am going to install a new top end on my bike and I am going to use the yellow dot rgv stock pistons with the stock aprilias rs cylinders. I was wondering if anyone has done this and what the piston to cylinder clearance should be. I was thinking .002. Any suggestions? Thanks

I think most people use suzuki parts for the engine where possible because of the difference in $$ compared to Aprilia
I always rund stock suzuki pistons for the road.
The clearance should be in de shop manual (link below)

at .1-.12 is bad

The manual only give a service limit...not an ide al or new spec. Would. 002 be too tight? I sent my cylinders out for re plating and told them to put it at. 002. Is there going to be a problem with that?

If your talking 2 thou that is tight standard clearence for ULP is 0.06mm. With clearence of 0.002mm the piston would be unlikely to go into the cylinder.

Also ...I don't know if it matters but the bike is going to be for racing only....not street use
