Does anyone outside of the USA know the part number for the headlamp wiring harness? My dealer says that they can get parts non-US regulated, I guess just not post, advertised them for sale.

One has to wonder why aprilia bothers to change the lamps for the USA. I supposed it's probably some DOT issue, but why?

I assume the amount of light lumen needs to be limited coming out of any vehicle`s headlamps. If it is not regulated by DOT, everyone can make their head lights so powerful to blind oncoming traffic drivers. I am not sure but most likely this is the reason for it! I understand this regulation for cars and trucks but they should leave it alone for motorcycles because you never can have enough lights for your motorcycle!

So.....has anyone been able to determine if we can wire up these lights to both be on like the Euro models? Low beam is useless for daytime visibility. No one can see it. Have to ride with the high beam on.

Should ride with the highs on during the day anyway, I always have. I have a nice bright yellow bulb in one of my high beams, it really stands out during the day!

I do use the high during the day but I occasionally ride home at night. I live in the woods so to speak so i need to see. If I ride with the high beam on the light output is abysmal and any oncoming cars don't even flash so it's clearly not very bright. My 1600lumen LED lights arrived today. Now I am tasked with trying to find a suitable location to mount them up that won't be too hideous.

I got mine rewired this week. The dealer did it for me. I printed out the instructions that ZR1000A1 posted below. He is correct, the difference is in the wiring at the 3 pin connectors to each side of the headlamp assembly. The wiring diagram shows 3 pins on the bike side and 3 pins on the headlamp side. This is in fact the non-US wiring and is how you want the bike to end up. But in fact on US models the wiring on the headlamp assembly side of these 3 pin connectors is different. The US model wiring on the bike side of these 3 pin connectors is the same as the non-US version. Just follow the instructions ZR1000A1 posted. It works, YEA!!!
BTW, I had an old man shuffle up to me at the gas station last month before the mod to helpfully inform me that one of my headlights was burnt out.

So the end result for you (PaulJ) was both lights on in low setting with light partially blocked and then solenoid opens on high beams to reveal the entire bulb both lights on? THX

Yes that is correct. There are 3 wires each side that go to the headlamp assembly, 1 is ground, 2nd is constant on (powers light), 3rd is powered on high beam only (powers reflector lenses to open shades).
