    fly 50 problems NEED HELP!

hey i just picked up piaggio fly 50. the thing was i bought it not running. took it home and tried starting it. after 5 minutes of constintly turning it over it started. when you gave it gas it went like 5 mph only. after letting her warm up for a little she started to go alittle faster and started to pull more. the thing was it had 6 month old gas in it and he never cleaned the carb. btw this guy lives up in the mountains so theres dust everywhere!! anyways this guy never cleaned the filter. also he used regulare car oil... im not sure if thats really bad for the scooter but he did lol... after you get her warmed up though she starts up pretty fast. what do you guys think? would a clean carb and filter with fresh 91 octain gas and new plugs solve the problem? let me know what you think. im new to this stuff so i need your guys help.

No reason to use 91 octane, you will be fine with 85. Otherwise, you would need to clean carb, filter and get fresh fuel anyway. Best to start there and then see how she runs. I would also replace the spark plug

you didnt clean the carb enough, or if you used a needle drillbit, you may have a flooding carb,[real easy to destroy the carb jets] or the auto choke is in slightly wrong/really dirty... i just fixed a fly 50 yesterday with this same problem... i forgot to unscrew the autochoke housing and spray into the passages... also check the pilot jet,[7mm bolt with an unscrewable jet on top] if there is even a lil bit of varnish in it it'll act goofy and die when you gas it or brake hard, did you pull the idle speed mix screw and squirt cleaner down the passage? somethings gotta be dirty/clogged ghood luck!

Drain the old fuel, Clean the Carb, (tank if possible) fuel line's And finally either give the filter a good wash in fuel or replace it!

Snugg... What fuels do you have over the pond?! our standard is 95-99 with the odd place doing upto 102 but its like an extra 20p a Litre compared to 95.
