WTB RS/RGV SIDE PLATE (gearbox side case)

Hi folks;

Just discovered this morning that my kickstart housing has some play. The housing its a little bit lipped and has a small crack. I was thinking of welding and machining a bigger housing and using a ferrule for the kickstart axel... Right now seems ok, the clutch cover its helping the kickstart axel to stay in place, but I don't know for how long....

What will be better; repair mine or look for a new case. (don't want a complete crankcase, just the side case).

Mate, got the same problem on one of my bikes but worse. The whole bottom half of the "boss" is broken off, but I didn't bother to fix it. It only holds the kick starter shaft, Mine still has enough metal left to hold the shaft in position. When I rebuild the bottom end one day I may get a mate to alloy weld the piece back in.

I found the same problem with my bike also when I inspected the clutch. Also explains the reason there is a weld repair where it 'let go' with the previous owner.

how is it holding it in with no bottom half?

Of the 360 degrees of the boss, its got about 200 degrees left, if that makes sense so there is just enough left to stop the shaft from dropping down out of position.
