The recall is for the RSV4, V4 Tuono and also the Dorsoduro 1200.
It does not specify exactly why the recall was issued and it only applies to a certain range of VIN numbers.
Aprilia will send out notices to owners asking them to take the bike to the local dealer.

Demand sensor... is that a TPS for the throttle tube that signals the ECU for the RBW?

Is there any way of checking your vin number for recalls?

After 20,569 miles, mine left me stuck at the side of the road with a Urgent Service. It just died coming to a stop sign and would start but immediately die. It would not go into limp home mode.
After 20 or 30 minutes, it would start and idle for 10 to 15 seconds then go into a pulsing idle from 1000 to 4500rpm and back to 1000rpm with no throttle control at all.
GP motorsports said they think it may have lost the throttle learning and I will be taking it in Today to have them check it out.
Cain't complain to much since this is the first time it has acted up and left me stuck. Battery is fine, it was dry out and warm, connections all fine.
I let you know if mine is on the recall, it is a late 2009, got it in November of 2009 new.

Does this recall span all years of the RSV4? If it is a part design fault, then I believe the demand sensor is the same for all RSV4's. If it affects only a range of VINs then maybe it is a manufacturing defect. Aren't the demand sensors made by Bosch and used ina wide variation of other bikes as well?

    Well good news
GP Motorcycles in San Diego got me in yesterday, Saturdayat 4:30 and out by 6pm. Errors showed the demand sensors both bad after 20,569 miles.
Luckily, the dealer had just replace the sensors in another bike under warranty and when they ordered the new ones they ordered an extra set.
The new ones are not Bosch according to them. They installed, test rode and loaded my bike back in my truck for me in less than one and a half hours I was on the road home by 6pm. The dealer is submitting this to Aprlilia since there have been other bikes they had to replace the sensors on. My warranty should have expired in Feb.
My vin # is not on the list to be recalled so they are going to push and see if Aprilia will take care of it!
I was very pleased with Gp once again as they always bust their buns to get me in and out in a very short time so I don't have to drive 130 miles round trip each time in the truck.
These guys are like have AF1 here on the west coast.
