Thread: Remove ignition from top clamp

    You have to drill it out so you can remove the ignition block from the clamp, then there are two screws which hold a cover on (shows lock, on, off, etc) and under that is a ring which is the antenna and has a cable running from it. I talked to an electrical guy and the third wire is a ground so I should disassemble it again to ground it to something so I don't blow a fuse and get stranded. The wires i cut are like a battery clamp and the third wire attached on that clamp or so I thought which is why i attempted to jump the wire.
    As far as disabling it, it runs 14 Ohms so if one knew the proper resistor you could do that. I don't feel bad posting that; for $8 you could buy a manual and see it right in the manual.

    I have manual but it does not explain abs nothing about immobilizer even if the 14 ohm resistance.
    No I ll keep the original antenna removing that from the block.
    I dont fell free to rebuild new antenna

    I think the antenna is like blue tooth or it is on my 1098, if its not real close to the key, it wont recognize the key; that is why i think designing a resistor would be best so you can remove it and splice the resistor way back by the ECU but I'm not good with electronics. Somebody has removed the darn thing and should be kind enough to PM us with how to.

    The antenna reads a code from a chip in the key, same as most access control systems work. A resistor would just fool the electronics into thinking the antenna was there.

    It wont read the key and start the bike.

    exactly what we do too.....its a standard M8 Allen cap bolt that goes back in......you can drill out the Allen part if you want to make it securty again.....not needed, a thief isnt going to waste his time changing ign locks....your bike is in his van in 15 seconds.

    I drilled it out with a normal drill bit. About 10mm I think.

    Hit the end with a hole punch to make a dent, then just drilled.

    Once the head was drilled off the ignition just slid off.

    No need to replace it. Just use the bolt on the other side
