Husky release Nudas in my backyard

Just read a review of the 2 Husky Nuda 900 models released in Australia. http://www.bikesales.com.au/reviews/...h-report-29576. The base Nuda is very price competitive with the Shiver, while for Dorso money the more upmarket NudaR has full Ohlins suspension. Of interest to me is that the roads used for the release are very close to where I live. Its not the first time my local roads have been used for manufacturer's product releases.

In view of the competition, isn't it about time Aprilia got around to upgrading the 750 Shiver and Dorso to maybe 800/850cc with less weight and more hp, after all my Shiver rolled off the production line way back in November 2007 and to date the engine and suspension is unchanged.

i test rode a nuda r and i was very impressed with the engine and the handling and the suspension. its only the back thats ohlins by the way. the only thing i didnt like is the unfinished look about it. exposed wires, that hideous front fender, exposed battery etc. i didnt like the idea of a cable operated clutch but i thought the front brake was awesome and incredibly scary...but i wouldnt have one over a dorso. no way....

I know the Nuda is probably better than a DD - after all BMW don't mess around. But God help us. It looks like a Dog's arse!

Agree, the small tank and the unnecessarily high seat is also a turn-off for me, but maybe the 'spare' look equals weight saving?

Part of my point in posting was really to point out that the Shiver/Dorso models are coming up to 5 years old with no real upgrades and no new models in sight. Not everyone needs or wants a heavy 1200.

The 1200 maybe heavy but it has twice the power of the 750 but when you look at value for money I think the reason the 1200 hasn't really taken off is because you can but the Tuono V4 R APRC for just over a grand more, I think Aprilia have shot themselves in the foot a little with the DD1200

At least in Europe you can still buy the 750DD. Here in the US they stopped selling the 750, If you want a new DD you have to buy a 1200.

Not even close to twice the power. The 750 makes around 80 BHP compared to around 115 BHP for the 1200.
I do agree about the Tuono though. For a little more money than a DD 1200 you get a bike that truly has twice
the power of the 750DD with 160 BHP and also the V4R's electronic package is far more advanced than the one
    used on the 1200 Dorso.

By the end of the year my beloved DD750 will more than likely be making way for a new Tuono. It's just the
range of V4R that concerns me as it's shorter than the Dorso, and that's a hard thing to fathom.

A big on the lack of range supa - what's going on at aprilia? They don't seem to appreciate that some parts of world need longer distance rides than a quick blast around the block on weekends.

My 750DD made nowhere near 80bhp and 1200 with new mapping has reports of 125 to 128 bhp. Add the DNA stage 2 filter that is claimed at 6 hp and your in the ballpark.

I got 78.5 out of my bone stock 750. Even if it only made 70, 125 is far from double.

Well ok maybe not twice the power but not far off!

I don't know where I will go after my DD, I may go for a Tuono, again how can it's range be less than the DD??

Or I am tempted by a Ducati, in particular the Multistrada but I'm not quite sure I'm ready for or need that style of bike just yet!

I would be tempted by a twin Tuono, for sure. That's all I can see replacing my DD at this point.

The biggest thing putting me off the new Tuono would be the IMO weird/messy styling. Shame, as otherwise the bike is a winner.
