Rebuild Rotax for Scarabeo 150...or ???

HI!
I have a hosed engine on my Scarabeo i just bought and barely am able to ride. Apparently the person who I bought it from ran the oil dry at least twice (this shop serviced the bike).
The local Vespa shop was going to do a rebuild, including pretty much new bottom end (top end is fine) and new pumps.
It is going to cost about 2500$ , including a brand new Crank Assembly at 900$
I feel this is very high...
I was looking to see if anyone had a spare motor sitting around, and if all else just the crank assembly..
or anything else that could help

should check ebay frequently, it has engine (sometime) goes somewhere between 300-500.

This is a tough situation no doubt Id be boning up on my wrenching cuz thats alot of labour charges to .. This is an easy project and a good one to learn on to If youre so inclined Fooling round with powersports equip can be expensive especially messing with engines etc
