    Hardtail

Some dude was riding a hard tail Harley in front of me on my way home. You know, with the huge back tire. That dumb bastard was weaving 1.5 to 2 lanes (in the city). Gawd, that was a wobbly POS.
    Bikes:
    2007.5 Tuono-Black, with 1102cc's of micah's badness!
2012 Griso-Silver and black, Agostini pipe, some carbon bits.
2006 Vespa GT200-bitubo suspension all around, Malossi big-bore, head and cam, Akrapovic pipe, all put together by Micah.

gone 2002 Caponord-Oyster gray (as faithful as a hound dog)
gone Futura-Red (on the AF1 showroom floor. Get some.)

The more I learn about people, the more I appreciate rocks.

Big fukin' deal. This is Aprilia Forum not Twitter.

How does the absence of rear suspension on a hardtail affect handling/roadholding? Can't see it being very advantageous. When I've asked riders who are into such things, they seem to get rather defensive, & start blathering about 'heritage', 'tradition', 'style' and so on.

I have ridden a hardtail once, and never on the crap streets we have in Houston. The best "ride" is if you have 10-15psi in the back tire. That sort of explains everything you might want to know about hard tails.

hard tail = entire rear-half of the bike becomes un-sprung weight (minus the rider if one at least has a spring saddle), all says poor handling and a sure way to keep chiropractors in business IMHO. Being all over the road... bet his forks were raked way out too.

Probably a pretty good direction. At least better than riding the WobbleMaster1976.
