Welcome! I think your post was cut short.

Sorry my fingers are too big for iPhone buttons. My question is - do I need a different map to run a stage 2 dna filter?? I have stock exhaust and the stock map right now.
there is no different map for a different airfilter. but you could try if it runs better with the arrow map.

so is this lean condition a myth??
Yes and no. The DD1200 does not run dangerously lean, that is almost hard to do now with modern 4t street motors. It just runs far too lean on dead stock mapping for buttery smooth running or really sharp throttle response. When in closed loop mode (which is most of the time) the motor does indeed run very lean especially at cruising loads BUT, this is no leaner than a typical car engine that meets modern emissions targets. The DD runs so much better and smoother on the race mapping though since target af/r's in the ecu are altered richer.
Diminished expectations is the key to happiness in life.

and the addition of a high flow filter is safe to do? or should i look at getting the arrow map or stock pipe map? So for starters i guess, if I install it now what kind of running characteristics do i look for to know that the mapping isnt right. thanks Micah

If your planning on rocking new pipes down the road, get the arrow/aprila mapping now. If not get the new map for stock pipes. It's the biggest improvement you can make on the bike. All the new reviews on the 2012 1200 are great, due to the fact the reviewers are now testing a properly fueled 1200.
