2012 V4 black and a yellow at local dealer.

He guy's picked up my T from dealer after tank replacement.
They have a black and a yellow V4 2012 Tuono on the floor.
I am not affilliated with them, but remember folks asking when they would hit US shores.

    TT Motorsports in MI.

    Nitro.

Mods: Move to V4 thread if you want to, sorry brain fart.

Just got the first one in at my dealership. The bike seems a lot smaller than the old T but more refined. I've already got a Steve McQueen edition Triumph on order so, I can't do anything right now. The new T will follow me home next year though.

I spoke with my dealer today about the new T. They had a brand new one on the floor. The owner/GM said they are completely different and that the V-2 bike is more fun to ride. He said that knowing I could buy the new one down the road If I wanted. That's a good guy/Dealer.
I also sat on the new 848 SF and It's a lot more comfortable than the 1098 version. Pegs were right where they should be. Felt slick.
I'm not trading my Tuono at this point for anything.

I thought I read on this sight that our V-2 version is 450 lbs wet, and I read in a magazine that the V-4 is 480 wet. Is that about right?

I have the RSV4 which I made into a track bike last year, and just recently bought a Gen 2 Tuono for the street. The new Tuonos are very similar to the RSV4 so this sort of comparison may be of interest ?

The bikes are very well suited to these environments - the v4 is awesome on track and you can't beat a big twin for the street. For sure I would have lost my license riding the v4 on the street - that engine just wants to GOOOOOOOO. Cannot be ridden slowly.

V2 Tuono sounds crap compared to the V4 - nothing beats that exhaust note. The Tuono also feels HUGE and also much heavier than the V4 - just feeling, mind you.

This is directly from the Tuono V4 page on www.apriliausa.com:
....the V4 model "features two more cylinders and 41 horsepower more than before, while weighing over 22 pounds less."

On the weight here is what the owner manuals state.

    V4:
    curb weight (dry) = 425lbs
    ready weight (WET) = 449lbs

    GenII:
    ready weight (WET) = 461lbs

    GenII Factory:
ready weight (WET) = 452lbs (forged wheels, alu hub and carbon body components)

    Hope this helps.
BTW, love your avatar; I see a guy with this kind of handlebar frequently on my way to work, the way he's hanging off these monkey bars, he looks like he's strapped into a medieval torture device rather than having a fun ride.... LOL, just can't fathom how this could be comfortable in any way. In case it's you in the picture though, ah.. nice bike!

Thanks for the info, I thought I had read that the V4 was a little lighter, and was surprised the magazine said the V4 was heavier, but didn't really trust the mag.

No, that picture is not me ...

It is definitely lighter, just don't know where Aprilia comes up with the 22lbs for their statement. Dry weight? Doubt that as well. Only 3 lbs difference to the old factory, and 12lbs to the standard.

And I am VERY glad it's not you hanging of the handles...
