    07 Piaggio BV 250 - Ignition Problem

Hello everyone I am working on an 07 piaggio BV 250, (4,500 miles) for a friend. Here's the skinny... The battery died on this scooter last year and he started jump starting it to get it running. Then he put it away for a while and the carb gummed up. I changed the starter motor since it was jammed and put a new battery on. I cleaned the carburetor and put fresh gas and we took it for a spin. Runs great!

From a cold start, 3 miles into the ride the power cuts in and out really fast and the bike starts to shake as you ride. I put on a new plug, same problem. I changed the coil, same probem. Running premium gas. I suspect that the CDI is fried from all the jump starting. What do you all think?

Carberator may not be as clean as you think and could be running lean causing high speed stumble and a near to soft seize from running hot.

Cleaned it again and I'm still getting similar performance. I guess this is the price to pay to jump starting such a pricey bike.
