    Brand New Rotors

I finally got around to buying replacements for the warped rotors on my Le Mans. My preferred parts supplier had some issues getting the shipment from Brembo, so I opted to buy these EBC rotors from another online source instead of waiting. I will post an update in a few days, after they are installed and broken in.

Looks like at least another week before I can get these puppies installed. I am tied up in home renovations at the moment.

    Update.

I ended up struggling with rotor bolts and cush drive bolts that would NOT budge. Took both wheels to the dealership to have them give it a go. They got the bolts out, but not easily. All 2 rotor bolts needed to be replaced (ordered). Same for all 6 cush drive bolts.

While taking things apart, I decided to replace the reaction rod because the bushings were blown almost completely out. Then I noticed that the needle bearings and spacer in the rear drive were completely rusted.

Rotor bolts came in last week, and the replacements are MUCH better than those crappy OEM button head bolts. Cush drive bolts never did come in, so I took the wheels home to try locating those on my own. A used reaction rod is en route from the Netherlands, and the rear drive parts should be arriving from Moto International in 1-2 weeks. It is worth mentioning that the folks at Moto International are VERY nice.

Sometimes a small project turns into something quite different. The joys of buying a used bike. On the other hand, the new parts will make everything much nicer when I'm finally back on the road.

Sounds like you're getting it sorted abouc. Good to do it right while you're in there, but patience is hard to find as the weather gets better. Are you dealing with Tony in parts at Moto I? They are all very nice folks there. Honest, knowledgeable, you couldn't get better.

Please refresh on the details of your V11. Miles? Was it neglected or is this just normal wear? I've had a thing for the Lemans for a very long time now. Does the fairing offer as much protection as it would seem? Such a great looking bike.

When I was in the market for one finally, I just couldn't find a decent one so picked up a left over '08 1200 Sport from Dave (Moto I). It gets better as I put miles on it, more torque, better sound. It handles crazy. I mean it's huge sitting there and 100 pounds heavier than anything else in the garage, but turns and changes direction amazingly easy. Buddies get off it and just shake their heads in disbelief. I would love to throw a leg over a V11 and see how much different, and how much the same it is.

    Updates when you have some...
    2008 RSV 1000 R, platinum/charcoal/red
Akrapovic full system, BST carbon fiber wheels, NERA top triple clamp, Aprilia accessory rear sets, AF1 Ti bolt kit, etc. etc...

2008 Moto Guzzi 1200 Sport, black... and stock for now

    2007 Ducati GT 1000, red
Showa forks, Sachs shocks, Termignoni kit, lots more

Yeah, Tony was who I dealt with. Exactly the sort of guy I'd do a lot of repeat business with. He was knowledgeable and spent a fair amount of the time we were on the phone just chatting about bikes. The whole experience was A+.

The V11 has been a great bike overall. Plenty of fun, and handles nicely. It seems to have a much lower center of gravity than the 1200 Sport (at least while stationary). The faring and ergos are pretty good. Mine was fitted with bar risers and a touring screen, so you're a little more upright than stock.

When I bought it last March, it had 20,000 miles on the clock. Now it has over 32,000. The first time I looked at this bike was in 2010. The owner had not ridden it much in the past 2 years due to some changes in his life so it had been sitting instead of running. I wasn't able to pull the trigger on a bike that year, so he ended up trading it in at an auto dealership. The guy I bought it from had it only a few months and decided to sell it to fund some home remodeling. He put a few parts on it, but it still needed a lot of work. Overall, things were not very well maintained.

The wheel bearings (left side) and needle bearings tend to be failure prone because of exposure to the elements. I ride in the rain a lot, which doesn't help. I use it for daily commuting (145 miles round trip) and it's plenty comfortable. On long trips, the seat can get a little punishing.

I've never regretted buying this bike over all the others I looked at. It's a fun bike with a lot of character, and very easy to work on.
