So maybe its better just to toss that cylinder out to garbage and replace it with something else ?

I did notice when i cleaned it up that there is a big mark in the same side as the black on the piston, maybe that cylinder is no good anyway.

Here is a few pictures of the old original cylinder I got with the scoot.

Any thoughts about reusing that ?

I will just replace it with a brand new, it does need a little bit of love, maybe it will serve me well the next few years on touring, any thoughts about the cylinder, do you by any chance know what the ringgap should be ?

I have decided to get a brand new cylinder and piston kit for the machine instead of making a maybe fix with a new piston, this way it should also last the next 15.000 km without to much problems, if that saves me from problems its money well spend.

It does look like the Ditech machines are a bit rough on the piston and cylinder kits.

Not really.. A lot depends on the user/owner. Be nice to "her", and you should have a lot of "uncomplicated fun".

I hope so, will have to drive it restricted to 30 km/h, slow but it beats walking.

Im going to order this set: http://scooterparts.dk/product.asp?product=13517 i know its not the original aprilia part, but i hope it will do just fine.

So here are the plans and expenses on my otherwise very cheap scooter.

New original cylinder and piston = 296 USD.
New gaskets for top and bottom = 24 USD.
25 ECU and limiter ring = 73 USD.

In total: 393 USD, and i'm thinking about adding a watertrap, it sounds like a very good idea from reading in here, but i guess in the end its still a pretty cheap ditech, and at least it should work without to much problems the next few years.

Oh Man, you have the 25 km limit "license". That's just plain wrong for such a fine scooter as the Ditech.. The 45 km version is bad enough.. But as you say, it's better than walking.. barely

No license is needed for riding a 25 or 30 scooter here in Denmark, but yea its slow, was reading a bit on another scooter forum about using two ECU's, but with the 25 limiter ring in place im not sure if that will make it go any faster ?

I do got a 45 and 25 ECU for the project.

Both the 25, 30 and 45 use the same variator restriction ring.. I'm pretty sure of that.. <---Ignore, wrong info. So the different ECU's should have an effect.. Would have been so much easier if there was an revlimiter developed for the Ditech. But it's not.

Im not so sure about that, i think the size of the ring is different, but im not 100% sure.

Im not sure if there is any performance gain to be made, i just have to keep the scoot below 43 on the rolling road the police are using here.

Found a bit about the ring gap and checked mine, its 0.25 mm, and according to the Ditech manual it should be between 0.15 and 0.35, so i guess thats still in order?

    its a tight 0.25.
