Thank you ever so much Pete! Gosh you're a top bloke. I see you have a Mk.1 RS250 - that might be very handy to refer to because of the various differences in that model that could require some aspects the conversion kit to be changed.

Calvin has picked up an LC rolling chassis he will be using as a test horse, I believe he is on the lookout for an RZ too. I should explain why we've not already snatched your hand off with your kind offer Pete .... I believe Calvin favours the idea of working on bikes that he owns outright, no strings attached - rather than having to ask owners for permission to make modifications etc. ... and I concur. It's just a lot simpler when it's your own bike you are working on for development purposes. I can see how having someone else's bike could get complicated ... and if the arrangement is sort of open-ended, confusion could ensue.

Perhaps you could contact Calvin and talk about possibly selling one of your RZs to him?

No worries, I completely understand. The offer will always be there for you guys, no strings attached, poke them, prod them, tweak them into submission, keep then for 6 months, a year, whatever... Like I said, I've got other bikes to ride and God knows I could use the extra space in my shed lol

If there is anything I can do to help get this engine up and running, you know how to find me. My baby is waiting... Lol

    Nuff Said

I will see what I can come up with. I am not above making a new pulley mechanism if that is what is needed.
Just let me know if you need any of those oil pump parts Calvin, as I have 58 pumps here and parts thereof.

Hi Steve the torsion bars on lc are set lenth I thought it would be nicer to have them adjustable then you can bolt them up and take up the slack nice and tight!

    Hi Steve quick update

Twin pv welded together on stock ypvs servo and stock servo controller.....

The stock system closes it all bar about 1 to 2 mm.

I've made a pointer and centre punched the pulley so I can see where it shuts too.

I've also just rode the bike with the new 4.5 mm pump .

I'm gonna do some bigger runs next week weather permiting but I've just done a few miles on it.....

OMG I almost flipped it....it's an animal!

Power is straight off the throttle all the way to past 11 grand ...

It's so so so so so so so so so so much better with the pv working even with them welded together and shaped.

I'll do some more testing for you steve on your pump design!

But I'm grinning from ear to ear!

No worries at all Darren, just email me any pics you want posted, and I'll email you back the links so you can copy and paste them into the body of your forum post. Sorted.

Can you give us more information on the seize smads? Where is the damage on the pistons(s)? Do you think it may have been lack of oil (although your previous posts talked about an excess)? Cooling system not doing its job? Nine miles doesn't seem far (or fair!).
Anything that might help others avoid a similar fate would build our knowledge base and lead, cumulatively, to a developed motor.

    Crazy

    Hi mate

Right the engine is well over oiled so not that.

Normal running temps are 58 to 61 with pv locked I have nearly 2 litres water capacity and 55 deg thermostat.

As soon as I got pv working temps got to 62 64 still not crazy but deffo hotter.

    Plugs are tan .

Where TSS had drill holes on my piston on the bridge to the sides of the main exhaust there is no seize and less wear on piston so them drill holes work!

Mine seized on the bridge between the boost exhaust port and the transfer port if that makes sence.

    My cylinder was 73mm dead

My pistons have the drill holes

I'm gonna try a new drill hole to line up with the centre of the bridge between the transfer and boost port when piston at top dead centre.

I'm gonna countersink the holes to help spread the oil

The whole problem is the pv and boost ports together.

With all locked open the three share the heat.

When pv is held shut by servo until 6 maybe 7 grand the two exhaust ports have the gases forced down them causing them to expand ....

What you need is a pv cylinder without the boost ports but everything else the same.

The boost ports contradict the whole pv idea even tho it still works quite well with the two boost posts leaking off the pressure.

If you never had the boost ports the pv would be much better at low down and sacrifice a bit of top end and that would completely cure all the seizure problems .

The vacuum pv seem to blow open early keeping the boost ports cooler as main shares heat.

Also ATV just nail it off the line where the road bike cruises and that cruise is gonna be the killer,be

Cruising on the road bike is gonna be pv closed and part throttles all causing the two ports to take the heat...

Even tho my pump was over oiling I'm gonna go premix only because the prob with premix is it does 32.1 at idle and cruise and the pump is designed to do 20.1 flat out and 100.1 at tick over .....opposite really of what this cylinder needs.

This cylinder is also more critical to set pilots to run rich also not the Norm.

    So summary
    Large rad
    Race impeller
    Rich low throttle
    Premix only
And six drill holes per piston
    Extra clearance

Can any one else think of anything I can do
