New Owner With a Few Problems

    Hi everyone,

I picked up a 2011 DD1200 in white about 2 weeks and I'm absolutely loving it! I am, however, having a few problems I was hoping someone could provide some advice with. I drove about 3 hours to get the bike, and the dealer honestly isn't the greatest.

    1) I need to enter my "personal code," which the dealer gave me, but I can't get into the menu! The manual says to enter the menu, press and hold the mode switch in the center position while the bike is at 0mph. I've tried this probably 50 times at this point, but the bike does nothing. I've tried it in neutral, in gear, with the sidestand down, and with it help. I'm confused!

    2) The dealer told me I'd have to purchase something to get switched from kilometers to miles. Is this true? Where to do I go about getting it? I haven't seen anything in the AF1 store.

    3) Arrow or LV? I'm leaning toward the Arrow, but for $400 less the LV is tempting, and it's really hard to get a good feel from youtube videos. I'm not necessarily going for just loud, I want the deepest, "meanest" sound I can get.

Thanks in advance for the help!

to get into "menu" you have to move the "mode" switch left/right until the menu is on your screen ... then press the mode switch to enter the menu ;o)

btw: congrats to your new bike

    1) like JHB1984 said navigate with the engine off or just not moving and keep moving switch in one direction until menu comes up once it does push the switch in.

2)Well once you figure out how to navigate your menu function you should be able to switch from kilometers to miles by going into the diagnostics function from the menu screen, enter service code 98789 under diagnostics and you should see km and mph, pick mph

3)I completely gutted my stock exhaust so not sure there.

Thanks a lot! I got in there and fixed everything up with my "personal code" yesterday, and I'll go take care of the kmh to mph issue tonight. Much appreciated!

Your dealer is really bad that they didn't even bother to switch it to mph. I'd call them and let them know just how stupid they really are. More so the tech and his ability to perp the bike.

Yeah, I'm most definitely not satisfied with the dealer. Unfortunately I was stuck going with them as they were the only dealer within a 3 hour range that had a DD1200 in stock. To top off the fact that they told me I'd have to purchase something to switch to mph, they loaded the bike, insisted it was fine when I said the one strap looked a bit loose (I trusted them as I figured they'd done this more than me), and the bike fell on the way home. Luckily there was absolutely 0 damage to the bike or my truck.

They were, however, pretty up front with the fact that they knew very little about Aprilias at least - even though this is a lame excuse being that they're a dealer. Luckily I have a dealer nearby for maitenence and other questions. They just weren't able to get another 2011 in.

    Hi

Picked up my 1200 yesterday (traded a DL1000 with an SV1000 engine in it and Pilot Road 3 tyres (it did 260kph plus with ease) This thing would round it up in no time.

On to my question; Does anybody know if the service code would be 98789 for all 1200 2011 bikes ( including those sold into Australia as well)?

It should be in your user manual. It was also on the black rubber piece that connected both keys together when they were new. It's just an anti theft device that locks out your instrument panel if it was stolen.
