mine a scratched espacialy on the tank also, all little tiny scratches in there from me carryin stuff on the tank.

Turtle Wax with Teflon (gold cap) is great for your bike, and you can rub it onto the exhaust, extra thick coat on the bit thats behind the pannels and dont rub it out there, tailpipe and silecer you put it on and carefully rub it out.

Bulb in the dash can be a pain to change, its in a rubber thats inserted in there, just pull it out and take the bulb to an autoparts store, they should have them. its not the bulb you linked to.

That gasket is fine, rub it in with some grease before fitting it.

Many thanks, I'll do that according to your advise! Can you post a link to the Turtle Wax Teflon you are referring to, I can not find it online, if I know the exact name and picture how does it looks that will help me a lot. Thanks!

I'll do that and I hope I will be able to change it

Again, many thanks Patrcik for all your help!

Tomorrow I should receive the pair of Michelin Pilot Sporties, I'm very much looking forward to have the new tires on my bike. I hope they will prove to be good and safe tires!

I should also receive all the required oils and the chain by the end of this week or early next week (Motul 300v 10W40 for gearbox, Motul 710 2T, Motul ForkExpert 15W, Repsol 5.1 brake fluid, Alu coolant, NGK BR9ES, Repsol teflon chain lube, Castrol Air Filter Spray).

    - Finally I have decided to go with the DID420NZ3 motocross extra strong chain, 140 link, from which we will remove the required number of links. We did not settle this questions for sure, can you confirm how many links should we remove, that is, how long the chain should be?
    - the parts shop owner phoned me if I'm sure that the ordered sprockets are the ones I really need. I'm pretty much sure they are, but could you please confirm that I need exactly these JT sprocket, as per the measurements on their web site: JT front and rear that I could call him back and say to send these. I'm going with the stock size 12/47

If everything goes as planned, I will have everything set up and changed by the end of next week.

    Thanks!

Put the chain on and see how much you need to remove, make sure the chain tensioners are not adjusted to far out, or all the way in.

You did not link to any sprockets... but should be these: http://www.jtsprockets.com/catalogue/model/2923

Thanks, I do that with the chain and I have ordered the sprockets.

The two Sportys have just arrived, they look great and were manufactured in December 2011, so quite fresh tyres. Is 1,7 and 1,9 bar pressure good, as per the manual?

I'll check on tyre when I get home (at the work atm), but I recall it says the max allowed pressure. The manual says 1,7 bar front and 1,9 bar rear for solo rider, but for me it looks a little low. The Pirelli that is on the bike now was inflated to 1,7 and 1,9 and it was too flat. I'll go with the values you have suggested.

I think they go by the weight of little italian riders or something, thats why i got them harder also, the recomended presure seems to be not enough for me alone also.

And finally, today I have received the last package with parts, now I have (probably and hopefully) everything I need for the bike at the moment. It did took some time, but I wanted to get the best parts and quality available.

BTW, I got the Sporty tyres mounted on Wednesday, and I must say, they are awesome! First I was driving very carefully for the first 50km, now the tyres do look like they have lost the "slippery coating" and they really feel as they were glued to the road! Such a difference! And what is very important, I feel much safer now with the new tyres then with the old ones.

Now comes changing the chain, sprockets, oils, spark. brake pads, cleaning, etc and ready to go!

I will still have to check which carb is on the bike. I think it is the stock, I hope it is the newer PHBN version.

i have tried the maximum speed, it was around 75-80 km/h (I'm 180 cml, 80kg) as per the speed-o-meter on the RS. Basically I would say it is around 70 km/h. That is not bad, considering it is stock (pipe, cylinder).

Just one question: if I would like to have a little more power, I would buy a big bore 49-50 mm piston cylinder from iron. Can I mount it without replacing the crankshaft? Could you link to the cheapest iron cylinder kit on easyparts that are safe to buy? But don't make it 200EUR please
Or I could go for a bigger piston to the present cylinder, let's say 42mm, will that improve the performance?

    Thanks!
I will post some photos soon!

Changin the Carb probably will have a bigger effect, but we dont know wich one is under there now... boreing the stock cilinder up wont make much difrence, porting is no good on the stock cilinder.

Patrick, what do you think, is it worth (and safe) to use the Turtle Wax Silver Chrome&Metal Polish on the bike? I think about the frame, forks, and the non plastic parts on the bike?

No, its ment to be used on metal, not painted aluminium like the RS50 frame etc. is.

Just use some ovencleaner to clean your frame and wheels and put a thin coat of teflon/ptfe wax on.

    Cool Chains and Sprockets

Patrick I seriously doubt you could bust a well made 420 chain on an RS50. MotoGP 125 bikes run 415 chains. I run a 415 on my Mito 125 and I'm confident it produces significantly more power than your RS50. If you have a decent chain then size isn't an issue. What is an issue is forcing your engine to pull all that extra weight around. If you "upgrade" to a 428 chain you are forcing your bike to work much harder for no gain at all.

In regards to this bike it sounds like it is totally stock in which case it probably couldn't break a bicycle chain.

Szimat--you should make a few decisions before you start buying all these bits for they are interdependent. If you are going to stay with a stock engine then yes the smaller front sprocket will help haul your butt around--at the cost of having a rather low top speed. However if you are going to go to a 50mm bore top end you'll probably want to go to a 15 tooth front sprocket to take advantage of all that tasty horse power the machine is now producing.

Based on your size and weight, and as long as it doesn't conflict with your local license action, these bikes are a whole lot more fun with them kitted. The thing is though once you make the decision to go to a big bore that means you need to get a proper carb, pipe, etc. Lots of things to consider. It's worth it though because that's when these bikes really show off their potential.

Things to remember about a bike with more power--they benefit from upgraded brakes and suspension more than you'd believe without experiencing the upgrades. The faster you go the more you need to slow--thus the brake upgrades. Likewise a better shock on these bikes allows you to utilize the upgraded power because it can keep the wheel on the ground transferring that power to forward motion significantly better than the stock shock.

In any event congratulations on getting such a sweet bike.

@ToraTora: thank you for your comments and for the congratulations! I do love this bike and as I have mentioned already, I feel like I'm twenty years old again
Yes, of course, I'm aware that I have to make the decision which way should I go, upgrade to a big bore with all the required modifications all keep it (almost) stock. I wanted to know which are the parts I would need to buy and especially the price of these parts, since one significant factor would be money, how much I have to spend to get a proper big bore setup (+pipe, crankshaft, carb, etc). Then I can much clearly evaluate which road I will chose. Since the engine looks to be in top condition, I might drive with this setup until it servers my right, then when a repair would be due, I would consider the big bore way.
The chain used at the moment (fitted yesterday) is DID420NZ3 extra strong chain (stock size, just enforced version), and it does looks pretty good. It should serve me for a long time, with regular cleaning and lubrication. The stock 12/47 sprocket size should be fine now, perhaps I will try a 13 sprocket to see how does it change and impact the performance.
