Arizona Motorsports park was built adjacent to a military air base. They built the track in between the runway and a housing community. Guess what the housing folks shut down for a few years due to noise? Not the air base. What's louder F15's or m/c and race cars? Anyhow, the track fought back and reopened last year thankfully.

This is your live (almost) report from Laguna with John & Potere riding A &B groups this foggy Memorial Day at the Pacific Coast 10 miles from scenic Monterey.

4 PM update; Potere and John are having fun. These other guys were not. Took this vid waiting for Potere to pop into view over the the corkscrew and this unfolded. Everybody walked (limped) away. http://youtu.be/VvcV2iaJMYA

The fog was of the cold variety and plentiful in the early mornings as is common at Laguna. If you come in July, you'll probably get to experience it. This is the bridge between 3 & 4

Waiting in line to get in, 6:45am.

Stefan Bradl was at this track day, he was pitted across from John & I so I waited until he looked available and chatted with him in German, a privilege for sure. He was extremely generous with his time and willing to chat like you were neighbors. He flew out of San Francisco immediately after the day and back to Munich. The dude ate Oreos for lunch (well, maybe that was dessert?). This is him and the CBR1000R Honda gave him to learn the track in prep for July.

There were many projects that day it seemed by those who wanted to take the cork screw faster than they should have. One wreck caused the whole session to be black flagged. I had gotten 1/2 a lap in as you can see on this short vid.

Here's a B session where I ended up behind Amanda, a fellow ballroom dancer. She and her husband were pitted next to me, real nice folks.

Look at the white trailer to the right of the PTT tent, that is Stefan's pit. At 30 sec, you see him appear from behind the gawkers in his leathers.

At about 11 min I go in due to being meatballed, it was a "sound check" deal. Laguna has a 92 db limit (most tracks have none or maybe something over 100 db). I get the lecture and then go back out.

I think you will find it is just another bit of electronic gadgetry the modern bike rider's chase. Pressure off the seat means rider is about to dis-embark please lower the side stand . Both walked away hopefully OK. A good example for removing your registation number plate at track days. Apart from the crash video excellent on bike videos , thanks. In Aust for ride days you can't run a video camera on track for legal reasons.

Which group was Stefan put in initially? Did his rep get him into the A group immediately, or did he have to start in the C group with all of the other newbies?

I asked a few guys in the A group if they saw Bradl in their session, the typical answer went something like, yah, for about 5 or 6 seconds.

RSR4RR - that photo in T 8 is what the rest of us work so hard to approach, is the other pic T 3?

I can't believe our luck, there is actually a July track day at Laguna this year, July 7th. Next report after that one is over.
