I'd be interested to hear if anyone has installed a set of blank off plates and if it is a PITA job?
I bought a set with some other gear but haven't fitted them yet.

Show me some dyno who says otherwise in a Eu bike and you will make sense !!

One other thing .. is it true that your warranty goes away with race map installed ?

    Found somthing when googled ..
1)There is a big difference in performance, only if you ride the bike. The dyno can't tell the difference.

2)Aprilia says that you must use RACE mapping with a slipon or full exhaust.

(The official word in writing from Aprilia Italy is that you can run the Akrapovic slipon without the Race map if you leave the db killer baffle in the muffler and you use the link pipe with Cat converter.
It is clearly documented in Tech Bulletin #022-2009.)

3)Not true, warranty is still valid with RACE map.Infact it's the other way around.

4)Get the RACE ECU and install it to your bike.If you don't like it(which i doubt it very much)sell it for a fraction less.

What kind of RWHP are these putting out? I understand it will be a "Ball Park" figure due to Dyno differences.
I assume the often quoted 167hp is at the crank, or even "at the brochure".

    Thanks Guys

It's fast approaching time for a new "Mountain Rocket" in the shed. I've been close to buying a KTM Superduke R, but on that forum they all try and increase the RWHP from 129, to 131, and sort the fuelling issues, and fix the front end. (I guess it's not 2005 anymore.)
I think I'll have to bite the financial bullet and spring for a V4 Tuono. (and budget for an Akropovic and Ohlins shock, maybe forks....)

Plus soon we will be able to acuratly claim "My bike has the same motor as a Moto GP bike! see that one, 2 laps down on Stoner...."

Just discovered the rsv4 air filter may be different than for the tuono v4.

Can anyone confirm? If do I'll add to the info list

yes filters are different, ( rsv4 one is a bit larger in size ), and can be mounted to the tuono using the plastic support and frame from rsv4 ( oem spare parts quite cheap ).

Hey Scotty, just to make sure Im clear.. Does that mean that even though the RSV4 filter is bigger, it can be adapted to fit the Tuono if we buy the plastic support frame used in the RSV4?

Also, does the support from just take up more space in the (already small) airbox?

Are we likely to get more HP with the RSV4 filter and 'plastic support", or with a Tuono filter (when available)

    Cheers

Yes you are right. Someone in the v60 Italian forum has already mounted rsv4 filter on the Tuono , using parts 13:* 858877
and *17 : 858878 from rsv4 airbox . I think that bigger is better , but difference in size is really small so I don't think that there' s a noticeable gain in hp even on a dyno.

Put in a BMC air filter and uploaded the RACE map today. Cheers Angus

It changes the whole characteristics of my bike.

The sound is completely different, a lot more aggressive and deep raspy.

The mid range is about the same but the 7000rpm onwards is where you notice the gain.

Throttle response is a lot crisper and there is constant updates as they improve the map.

If you haven't done this mod GET IT DONE you wont be sorry.
