I'm beginning to sweat just thinking of having to make a choice like that, but I guess it would be the Vespa 300...fast enough for the interstate, lots of storage, economical to ride, smooth, good acceleration, easy to get on and off of. If choosing a scooter is no fair, then I would say a Zero S.

My take on the BMW 800cc GS is quite simple and will come across as more trash talk than compliment but here goes. It is basically like a really well sorted KLR650 with smoother delivery and more power. When they eventually get cheap enough I can see myself getting one. They have to drop to KLR like price levels though since monthly multi week rides into interior Mexico are no longer part of my job.

I ran into a guy with one of those (Sealy, Bandara, and some other forgotten place) all in one day. I checked his bike out and thought it looked cheap and the build quality was for shit. Certainly not up to BMW snuff, whatever that might be these days.

+1 For Futura!!! Like Meanstreak says, it does it all. Luckily I don't have to choose just one & have a race bike, trackday bike, a Mille for sunday mornings and the Futura for everything else & yes, the Futura gets ridden the most.

Understood SF2DieHard! I love the exotica too. My trackday bike is '96 ZX7RR & the racebikes a TZ250. Just that if I could only have one for the rest of my life the Futura is the only one that can do it all!

Seriously though, I'm having quite a love affair (come on, lets hear the jokes) with my Futura. It more than any other makes me smile every time I'm on it.

At first I didn't want to say a V7, but maybe it's OK. I still want to keep my RSV, and still think a 999S would be a great "only" bike to have, but considering the "for the rest of your life" part, I think that not only would I be content with only a V7 now, I would still be happy to have it as my only bike for many more years. I could get it in racer trim now, with clipons and such, but if I had to later, like when I'm 80, I could switch to bars.
