I cant ride it yet due to paper work but i washed it!

I had a one days Temporary Operation Permit to take the new to me Scarabeo to Canadian Federal and Provincial Inspection ( It didn't pass the Provincial inspection, rear tire has to be changed I am waiting on that). I tell you I loved the bike, it took me a few stops to get use to the breaks. Looks like my BMW R1200GS is staying home for this summer! I washed it on Sunday and took a few pictures with my Iphone. Not bad!!!!!

Aprilia dealer is waiting for the tires to arrive and put them on the bike, then back to inspection and registering it. I am hoping for some time next week.
Thanks Steve, it is a great looking Beo.

Good that you are getting that done. The tires looked pretty badly worn in the shipping photos that were posted most likely being the originals. Where I live you would be replacing them regardless of the wear due to their age. Five years is the max safe age for a roadway tire here in Florida otherwise you chance a blowout.

That is a really nice looking Beo and should have safe tires to help keep both of you in good shape.

Congratulations on your 06 Scarabeo purchase. I have always admired the full dressed Beos.
I agree with Rockynv about changing out your tires. The front has tread but age is also a killer of tires. If you have the Maxi tires then I would immediately buy a new front tire. Their are two tires that have gotten good reviews from Scarabeo owners and they are the Pirelli Diablo and the Michelin City Grip. The City Grip has an interesting design in that the the rubber that makes up the tread is harder in the center and gets progressively softer as it moves off of center. This design gives you increased traction in the turns and increased mileage in the straight run. I like to use matching tires up front and in the rear.

Thanks for your advice guys, I already had a pair of Pirelli st66 on order, but I didn't know I have to change tires before the inspection ( bad info on government website ).

I agree with Steve and Rocky; I'd scrap both tires. It would be wise to cancel the ST66 order and get the City Grip or Diablo (in order of preference). Pirelli stopped making the ST66 a couple of years ago, so you're getting "aged" tires right out of the gate.

Enjoy your new Beo! You'll find yourself getting "lost" a lot.

I went with the Pirelli MT66 on the rear of my Sport City and will probably go with the Diablo on the front when the time comes as the rubber and tread pattern is almost identical. I put on about 10,000 miles a year so my tires never come close to death from old age. I had the local Cycle Gear store mount mine and they were impressed with the quality of both the MT66 tire and the Aprilia rim as they only needed 1 ounce of weight to balance the tire. I have only had it up to 80 mph but it was smooth and steady. Wet traction is very good too. I ride by a McDonalds that is across the street from a car wash and that combination of soap suds and grease make the road very slick however the MT66 handles it much better than the OEM tire.

I just went to the Pirelli website and they still list the ST66 on their website. I'm currently running a set of those on my Beo and am very happy with them. It doesn't say anything about them being discontinued.

I have orders on both tires, I did not know anything about scooter tires and learned about st66 in this forum. I am sure I will be happy with them too. 37 years of riding - 20 in Iran and 17 years in Canada. The Iran riding was always small bikes and bad tires. Don't know how I survived all those years. I use to carry 2 spare tires on my 150cc 1978 Vespa and they were not in a good shape - riding long distance!

Farzad - Now that you have made it to almost 40 years of riding it is good that you are not taking any chances on the tires. Please enjoy a long safe ride.

How is life for an Iranian living in Canada? I used to work with a number of Iranian and Iraqi lads and some would wear Western style clothes (cowboy boots, etc) and claim in public to be Mexican as they felt the bigotry against Mexicans was preferable to being known as Arab. I always felt bad for them that they perceived a need to engage in a false persona and could not just be themselves in public.

    Stay well,

    Rocky

Life couldn't be better, I left Iran 20 years ago on my own and made it to Vancouver, haven't been back ever since. I am a proud Persian or Iranian married the most wonderful Canadian women, have our own business www.farzadsbarbershop.com
I feel sorry that your friends had to pretend to be some one else and distance from their own heritage.
I do most of my road trip in USA these days I have never had anything but good experience with people in USA. Love the people.
(better prices on gas, food, wine, hotel, and wonderful roads and beautiful diverse landscape which some reminds me of Iran)

I stand corrected. My tire dealer told me they were discontinued. Shoot from the hip, hit foot. Apologies to all.
