Also means those guys who have done it can run the Gilles chain adjusters with the paddock lift for extra coolness, if they wanted to and couldn't find anything else to throw away their money on.

Yeah, those Gilles are pretty neat. Really like to fit them to my T but I am not changing the swinger just to do it. Well.............................................. ...

not yet anyway eh! there is bound to be a way around it, i think if the 2 notches were machined down on our swingers those gilles might fit. where the original adjuster bolt threads into. ofcouse anyone with both swingers laying around could measure the cut out sizes and deflate our idea if they really wanted too...

i really fancy this but i doubt they'd make one for even the gen 2.

What are these Gilles chain adjusters you're on about? Are they what Batfastard fitted to his gen 1?

Similar to those other ones I listed minus the built in caliper bracket. I think these only list for 04-09 gen 2.

Has anyone just tried using hem on a Gen1 bike? Just asking...because I am wondering if it would work?

i guess batfastard is the man to be asking. the reason i like the pvm one with the caliper bracket is it would save all the mucking about with our caliper.for it to work though the disc would need to be spaced as far out as possible so the caliper doesnt hit the wheel every time you try to roll the wheel out for a change.
a bit extreme for a street bike yes, but this is what separates us from the animals and bmw riders.

I've got these on my 09 T and they are ace. Easy chain adjustment and no chance of catching the swinger with clumsy paddock stand lifting. I don't know if the second gen will fit the first without looking but they were available for both. As for putting a second gen swinger on a first WTF ? The older ones are miles nicer.

Are they available for first gen? It doesn't list them on their website.

Just had a look at something Bats wrote, he had 2nd gen ones and he had to fettle the swinger slightly to get them to sit true on the gen1. Sounds like a bit of filing or dremmlin or whatever on the inner face where the diddy bracket bolts through to the main adjuster.

Is that a shite picture or what !

The gen 2 linkage bushings are shorter, so you have to re-use the gen 1 bushings with the gen 2 dogbone and side plates. The back of the bike will sit slightly lower, so extend the height adjuster on the rear shock a bit. I made a spacer for the front sprocket on a lathe. It has to be made from an old sprocket because you need the splines. I think it was 5mm. This puts the chain in line with the new swingarm guide. The rear sprocket was virtually perfect so I left it as it is. I found the gen 1 rear wheel to sit 3mm to the right. To bring this back across, I had to machine 3mm off the inside face of the sprocket carrier and inner sprocket carrier bushing. Also had to machine down the cush drive hub on the wheel, cush drive rubbers, and cush drive bolts. The last bit was the 3mm spacer on the rhs of the wheel.
Jeez... you went to a lot of unnecessary effort... I took the 1.5mm or whatever from the left hand swinger spacer, and that's it.

My chain must be close enough to perfect, i've done about 7500km's with it and there is no sign of wear on the chain or sprockets. Also it handles exactly the same left to right and tracks straight as far as i can tell, so front must line up with back pretty well too.

Not picking on you, just that you're making it sound like a lot of effort...

Oh and BTW i used 2nd get wheels as well, so didn't have to space anything there.

The 2nd gen wheels must help with alignment. My wheel was 3.25mm out. I rode the bike pretty hard like this, and could only just detect the difference turning one way to the other. I would NOT mess with a swingarm without measuring to check if there is a difference. I measured .... and it was 3.25mm. I dont want to ride around on a bike with that in my head. To change to a wider swingarm properly is a lot of effort. I didnt even want the bloody swingarm anyway, it was just the 04+ Smalt system wouldnt fit through the old style swingarm.
