End cans with standard link pipes

I came across these a while back on ebay, so bought them. Looks like someone had the same idea as me, i.e remove the original end cans and fit something else instead. This way though I´ll save my original exhausts.

Then I had a hunt around and bought 2 Carbon Can Co stainless steel endcans. (Have they gone bust?) The cans are the same length, it´s just the photo makes them look different.

So today I had a go at fitting them. Not good - they´re a bit short! About 100mm!

I´ll have to make some extensions for the link pipes so I can get the end of the cans in a similar position as the originals.

Just thought I´d post this in case anyone else had the same idea - there´s a little bit more work involved than just bolting on the cans.

I´m planning something similar but may clamp the extensions on as I´ve no welding gear.

Unless I'm wrong those link pipes are where they put the catalytic converters on the USA capos anyway ? Are those clear pipes or with cats, or am I all mixed up?

With reference to carbon can company, they were started and owned until last year, by Raceways in Fleetwood, they were sold to someone in yorkshire as far as I know, but what has become of them I don't know. They used to do quite a few cans to fit Aprilias when Raceways was an Aprilia dealer, as I had seen trioval ones fitted to a futura and several different styles fitted to RSV's.

So where is the Cat on the later 04 model, and would/could it have been removed when after market cans were fitted ?

OK, I see from the parts diagram, that the hedder pipes hold the cat (no 15)

    http://www.af1racing.com/store/Scrip...idCategory=563

Can these be swaped with the earlier models hedder pipes, or can the cat be removed on it's own, and is there much advantage in HP doing this ?

    My original linkpipes are CATLESS.
I did it, on the linkpipes which I bought as a spare 2 years ago,
    now they are catFREE
cut it, hammer the inside out and weld it back together.
the cat part of the linkpipe is galvanized steel, the rest is stainless steel.

Horsepower? According many dyno tests of different model bikes, CATalyc Converters makes around 1-2 bhp difference !

I don't think so. I beleve the cats are in the drop down portion of #1 and #2, near and aft where they connect to the header, mounted if you will, in a vertical fashion in the pipes.

    Open to correction here!
