Yes, since you most likely have a 2 wire cranksensor ECU you can swap for either the same or the earlier 04 type.

The reason I ask, is that there seems to be several part numbers being used for the ECU's, and I was unsure about the engine mapping...for instance, is there any advantage getting a later one?

UPDATE:
It now appears the ecu's are NOT intercangable at all...there is an incompatability in the immobilizer which prevents the swap...
Oh well, back to the drawing board...(and ebay)
It is true that on a Tuono the immobilizer is in the dash where on an RSV it a separate unit behind the LHS fairing.UPDATE:

This however does not matter in your case. You should be able to use an RSV i still think.

Hmm not good news at all. I am Tuonizing my RSV right now. It seems like I need another ECU as well then.

As long as you stick with the oe dash you should be good to go
