Braketech 220 Rear Rotor & BST Carbon Wheels

Guys just letting you know I took delivery of my new Factory APRC yesterday and fitted it with BST wheels and the Braketech Floating Rear Rotor. I have noted that this rotor is listed on AF1's site as not being for the APRC model but it does actually fit. I bought it originally for my R but then traded it in and had my mechanic see if it would fit. It does fit but requires some minor spacing of the traction control sensor. The TC ring sits nicely and you don't need to machine or file any lugs down like you do when fitting the OEM rotor to BST Carbon Wheels. It looks great too in contrast with the wheels and factory paint scheme. Here's a pic....

Also added a Shorai power lithium battery the lfx18a1-bs12. Its 2.5 kilos lighter than the stock OEM one with 100 more cca. Its actually an inch shallower too so you can pack stuff on top of it as well like a power commander or Bazzaz or similar....Bike cranks hard first pop...

OZRSV4R, how does that Brake Tech rear rotor work compared to stock? Of course the BST's help braking too, it was the first thing I noticed with my RSVR...

There would be negligible benefit I did it because its a floater and looks good and for what I will get back for my OEM disk it will cost me next to nothing to do....Ill also put Braketech rotors on the front so it will all match etc....

I have a set of 16.5 bst's that are going on my v4 factory....just using a machined rear rotor...alot less weight. I used to have a full floating rear, but it weighed twice as much (450g) more than my solid rotor.

I have a set of the iron braketechs fronts...used them on my rsv2. They seemed to give brake fade, but i think it was because i was using sintered HH pads.
Ill post up pictures when the bike is together... also use the a LithiumIronPhosphate battery as well.... mine is home made though (little bit ghetto) saves 3.8kg

Thats actually funny I had never seen that before no I got mine from Carbon Imports before he went bust and disappeared. Mine have ceramic bearings as well. To be honest I wouldn't have bought them if I bought the factory first as I bought them for my RSV4R which has the cast wheels and there is a massive difference over them. Anyways I decided to put them on the factory given I hadn't fitted them when I decided to trade up. I will say they are bloody impressive though the bike feels very similar to my 09 zx6r in terms of the way you can flick it around. The guys at The Garage were a bit sceptical and hadn't ridden them before but came back really impressed with them. In fact David described the feel like a 250 moto gp bike. He also commented on how strong the engine felt but suspected it had something to do with the wheels as well. When tipping in feels like the bike can go so deep into a corner so In any case Im glad I have them. The updated engine and gearbox is so bloody impressive to ride and the engine feel and smoothness is a quantum leap over my 2010 bike....

Im really impressed with the quick shifter its so bloody smooth it actually has no mechanical feel when I used it just the exhaust note changes I was really impressed. Im not sure if this is gearbox enhancements or mapping enhancements or a combination of both.
I will add that I also fitted a 15x42 520 chain conversion kit from the guys at AF1 so that sheds another kilo of rotating weight as well.

On another note re your question of build dates on the previous thread mine is stamped 01/12 so I was happy.
If you are serious about BST wheels send me a pm Ill hook you up.

Cheers mate...We should go for a ride soon....The quickshifter is cool...works much better then the dynojet one I have on my 08zx6r track hack. Also Im pretty sure garage did an order from AF1 and Im going to get a -1 front sproket off them when i get the 6k service done....which is coming up quick considering I have 4000km on her in 2 months.

And I didnt know CI went Bust....I swear he just poseted on ASB about being Sole BST distributer? Maybe the thread was just bumped...seems the cheapest I can find is about 3500 with std bearings....But BST's are on the List adventually, Just got a few other bits to get first...and finish repairing my track bike for this years SA championships....

Also I saw a carbon Imports sponsored junior bike at Mallala on the 7th....and I have seen his CI duke there a few times too

According to one of the stickies around here the difference is only about 2 kilos over the forged factory marchesini's but thats pure weight related if you research BST/s you will find they carry very little weight at the outer edge of the wheel making the impact on gyroscopic effect significantly less noticeable.

I would steer clear of CI as a few of my trading partners from AUS have put deposits down on wheels and carriers from them only to never see the product or get returned calls and emails.

I have a hardly used (400 street miles) BakeTech AXIS/Iron 220mm x 5mm: Full Floating rear brake rotor. Bolts right on to your Aprilia RSV 1000 or RSV4 1000 will also work on Tuono's. Sold my RSV4 Factory and removed this. $250 including shipping in the U.S.
