    Leo Vince - Alum

I couldn't find too many shots of the hanger scenario on these so I'm sharing my set up. Baffles out, she now sounds like thunder. Got it done a midnight last night and went to terrorize the neighborhood - car alarm fever. The biggest pain was the rubber spacer on the hanger - you can see right side not quite perfect. I also went with the LV bling out.

    map 2 is next.

    Thanks 20tuono10.

Looks good. I put these on my blue '08 and love them. With Map 2, all stuttering is gone gas mileage has gone to shit (30mpg - 32mpg), but she runs and sounds great.

FYI, from your pics, I think you have the spacers on backwards. The short one goes on the left side of the bike. I found clearance to the swing arm to be a little tight on the left hand side so I added two washers, one on either side of the spacer (now clearance is between 3/8" to 1/2"). I did this on both sides to keep things symmetrical. Also FYI, if you put the bolts in opposite of what the directions show and replace that little aluminum do-dad with a washer, you can keep the factory bungee attachment nuts.

You want the longer spacer on the left side for more clearance. You can add a few washers to help clearance.

    20tuono10,

When viewed from the back, are the pipes equally spaced from the license plate with the long spacer on the left? The reason I ask is that the instructions show the short spacer on the left and I actually clarified that with Leo Vince USA to double check.

Installed with the short on the left and long on the right, the pipes look correctly spaced from the rear of the bike. Adding just a washer to the left side (short spacer) made it stick further out from the bike center-line than the right hand pipe. Because of that, I didn't swap spacers despite the tight-ish clearance. I can't imagine 3/8" not being sufficient clearance from the silencer to the swing arm, is there really that much lateral movement in the swing arm.

Please know that I am not trying to argue, I don't want to screw up my swing arm but I am happy with how the pipes look on my bike and can't imagine that they would look right if I swapped spacers.

Even with the longer spacer on the left side, the pipe was closer to the license plate than the right side. Clearance has better with the long spacer on the left. There is alot of movement in the swing arm if you ride two up.
And it can rub the swing arm on the left side. If your happy about how they looks and they dont rub than your good. Just my 2cents.

    Spacers

The longer spacer is definitely on the left side of the bike. I looked at it on both sides because of the symmetry issue but was very uncomfortable with how close the left side got to the swingarm by me just pushing on the bike. I decided the +- 1/16" difference between the two spacers wouldn't make a huge diference with the rear symmetry issue (20tuono10 comment -Even with the longer spacer on the left side, the pipe was closer to the license plate than the right side.) and I'd rather have the space on the left side. Thanks for the FYI on the hanger bolts it crossed my mind.

For anyone searching on this topic... I installed the shorter spacer on the left side, per the instructions. Sure enough, my left can is rubbing my swingarm pretty bad. I have OCD so equal spacing (from the license plate) is pretty important to me. So, I'm thinking of adding a washer or two on each side, keeping the symetry but also giving the left can some more space. If anyone has a better idea, I'm all ears.

The lack of equal spacing also bugs the shit out of me and I am constantly trying to make them "equal" on bosth sides. I am constantly thinking that since I notice it then everyone else must notice and I irritates me to no end....It's odd though, I have the LV Factory big full exhaust and there are no different sized spacers...bolts up the same on both sides.

well, have an arrows slip-ons on my Factory and FxCK!!! look what I found... after one weekend riding with my girlfriend as a passenger I was thinking, that because my arrows were installed in the authorised service center (when I bought it), I donīt have to control anything... WRONG..

look what does it to my swing arm..

so, the standard mount was made like this

and that is how it looks from behind

so, what I have done is, that I just put two extra washer into the mounting - and problem solved.. but it pissed me off, have to tell ya..

here is the "easy" solution, which made a 3-4 milimeters bigger space between the exhaust and swing arm..

job well done.. but scratches on swing arm will be forever..

I just got these as well mate I originally had the small washer on the left, and I found the left one hitting the swing arm. I swapped the spacers I think it will be fine now but the pipe on the left still has a lot of movement towards the swing arm I am scared that while I ride it will work it's way back to the swing arm do you have the same issue.

hey fellas, just reporting I've ridden two up quite a few times since the install. One time with a heavy dude - 200 plus around town for a day - no scratches on the swing arm.
x2 on Map 2 - no reason to even change the exhaust if you don't do that.

scubacat - I feel your pain, man. I feel exactly the same way. Isn't OCD great?

For me, even after switching the "longer" spacer to the left side, AND adding a washer, my left muffler ended up rubbing up on the swingarm. The reason I see for this is two-fold:

    1. The muffler is held on by spring pull, nothing else, so it "naturally" rotates to whatever position it feels is best. For me, that always brings it closer to the swingarm.
    2. The stock R shock is a piece of shit and sprung for a 180lb rider, so my 220lb fatass was definitely causing the swingarm more movement than was intended

So... I went ahead and upgraded my rear with the Factory Ohlins shock. With the sag set to 35mm and the 100 weight spring, I'm hoping for less swingarm movement. In addition, I'm thinking of maybe adding another set of washers all around, or potentially repositioning the aluminum/rubber clamps to angle the pipe away from the swingarm.
