    2012 track days

Just booked two track days for early next year, both at Collie (south of Perth).
    -Sunday 22nd Jan
    -Saturday 11th Feb

Both fit in with work / time off, and both will be 'level 2'. Very much looking forward to it. Also think I will need to replace tires between the two - contemplating the Pirelli Diablo Corse III. I have been using Michelin Pilot Powers, which I like, but interested in a change and hear good things about the Diablo (tho tire life may be a little less).

Departing work early today (in about 30 minutes!) then off to Adelaide for a couple of nights, then 2 day ride to Melbourne for Christmas. Another 2 day ride home again, via Pt Fairy for new years. Life is pretty damn good right now

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to you all - stay safe and have fun!

Rosso's may wear a bit quicker than the PP's. Have you looked at Mich Power Ones ? Running B compounds at the moment, fantastic tyre in the dry. Might go back to Pirelli's myself after I've worn this set out. I miss the 'sidewall flex' that the Pirelli's have. Or it could just be all in my head
I love long romantic walks along a moonlit beach, and poking dead things with a pointed stick !

Sounds like you have some fun coming up Pete!

I had a mate say he preferred the pirelli's over his power pure's but the price is why I went for the michelins as the pirelli's were around $150 a set more...

Merry xmas and happy new years to every1 also

Now back in Perth after the christmas madness - approx 2500 (mainly speed conscious) km on the black falco - Adelaide / Melbourne return, via Pt Fairy. Was pretty bloody hot on the way home - over 40 celsius the whole 800km - not very pleasant!

A mate is selling me a pair of Diablo Super Corsa's (SC2 front, SC3 rear) for $350 and a local shop has agreed to fit them for $25 per wheel (off bike). I was home for one day (yesterday) and have the wheels removed, ready and waiting Im thinking tire life may be limited, but for the price Im thinking it will be a fun experiment. Looks like I will just have time to get home from Perth, get the tires changed, fit the wheels, and scrub in the tires. Then sort the trailer, load the bike, and off to Collie! Looks like 2 or 3 others from my work will also be at Collie on the 11th Feb.

Be great to catch up again some time Ross. I have a deadly treadly here in Perth again-plan to get a bit fitter (post christmas eats and drinks) prior to the track days!

I dont have my roster up to the 11th feb yet, so not sure if I can make it yet. Will let you know.

As far as getting fit goes, I have a treadly too, but dont have the enthusium to get it out much. BUT I just got a 09 Yamy Wave Blaster jet ski. What a hoot ! I plan to ride it heaps over summer to get in shape for the winter dirt bike season.

    Ciao.

I know we said this last year but we must have a gathering. Just a bit of grass to put out the front and the house is completed, regardless there will be lot's more riding than last year (really dismal effort on my behalf). if your not working I am going for a casual ride on Monday.

I'd love to go for a ride monday but Im working Im already in Perth, but the Falco is 'down south' (& missing its wheels-ready for a tire change). Another day, certainly, and we can always use my place at Yallingup as a base I work 3 weeks on / off, so shouldnt be too hard to organise suitable time.

Apologies Ross, but I did not think of you at all today while I was at the track..

Had a fun day, and kept the shiny bits shiny - our group had two falls, but nothing too serious. A couple of motards were causing drama in the first couple of sessions, but they then moved up to group three which suited their speed better. A couple of riders were also moved down to group one - we then ended up with a pretty even group. I was probably one of the slowest, especially at end of the day. I sat out the second to last session due to fatigue, and spent the last session concentrating on my lines, not outright speed. Earlier in the day I pretty well kept pace with one of the coaches, so Im happy I have another level II booked for two weeks time (different organisation) so it will be interesting to compare the styles / coaching between the two. It was around 34 C today - I drank at least four litres of water and still ended up dehydrated! I have a lot to learn, but hey - someone has to be last!

Next track day this Saturday, again at Collie - but this time organised by the MCRCWA (motorcycle racing club of west australia). Will be interesting to compare the difference between this and the days run by Trakdayz. Again a stage II, and again looking to be warm to hot. I have made a few changes to the Falco to make it slightly more suited to the track - fitted original handle bars (previously Heli-bars); adjusted damping and preload at each end (increased); raised rear ride height a few mm; adjusted foot-pegs forwards and upwards. Went for bit of a test ride today, and it has come up well - handles even better, even on the everyday roads (bumps and all) - looks like I might have lucked it with settings that suit the road, and hopefully also the track! A few small jobs still to do - remove mirrors / remove number plate / tape up indicators / tape up pillion pegs / cover brake lights and speedo /adjust tire pressures.

It also looks like I will make the next day on the 25th Feb - lucky my supervisor will also be attending the day and has offered to to 'adjust' my roster
