Well, finally test rode it for 115 miles, it runs amazing, few hiccups, 1st off the plug in the back tire (yeah I know, my own stupidity) came out, managed to replug it to get back home on the side of
the road and that too came out! so I was only 7 miles from home so went and got the truck and trailer, then the rear valve cover gasket was seaping slighty (again, my own stupidity for not changing them when I beadblasted
them, so Sunday morning I put a new rear tire on it and ordering both valve cover gaskets Tuesday.

Hey Phil, just a reminder of my experience after a restoration- I was hot to ride it, and I did. But in my haste I forgot the paint is still pretty fragile, and the front of the bike suffered lots of rash from gravel, etc. It really needs to be repainted now. But next time I plan on letting the paint harden before riding. My paint guy says 3 months is a good number for how long to wait. At least at room temp. Don't shoot the messenger!

I got to thinking, you were right with red tank pad, changed it to an Aprilia black one. I like the exhaust though!

    Question?

    Hey.
Can you please explain to me how you separated the glass from the headlight? Is it a hard procedure? What did you use?! Etc.. I also would like to have mine apart..

    Thanks in advance,
    Peter

its pretty difficult, i put it in the oven at 200 degrees for a few minutes, i kept checking temp with my hand, then pulled it out and used a razorblade to cut the silicone type of rubber as deep as i could, then i took a heat gun and carefully pryed with a screwdriver while heating to release the glue, keeping t all hot is the key and working very slowly.dont prywith the scredriver, get the tip in and twist it with your hand gently..

Hi beautifull bike and great job! How did you match the decal colour to the paint for the rest of the belly pan? I did the same kind of job and tried to match the colour at the shop but once I've painted the pan and applied the decal the paint has a darker red ! Did you use an aprilia colour code?
