Yeah, large parts of the routes will be as per the Stena link. But as I grew up down there, I will add a few less well travelled minor roads that will take in some views and places of interest. They dont call D&G Scotland in minature for nothing. Moors, coast, mountains. Some cracking roads, regular stops for a bite to eat.
Should hopefully have a price and contact details for a hotel in Stranraer shortly, I am optimisitc that I can get £25 per night B&B or slightly better. Once I have heard back from them I will put up details. Just do a final confirmation of August dates, routes and accomodation.
One minor change though, the Stena port has moved from Stranraer to just north of Cairnryan, this has affected ferry times slightly but we will still get across the water for the day. Also put the single bike and rider price up to £25 return.
At the moment there are five confimed Capo's, including my own, attending.
CONFIRMATION OF DATES
Arrive Stranraer Friday 24th August 2012. Easy evening with a crack and a few beers.
Sat 25th - Day trip with bikes to Northern Ireland (dep Cairnryan 0730 - arr back 2150) so longish day (£25 per bike & rider, pillion £15 extra) Antrim Coast road, Giants Causeway, ride part of the NW200 route, Joey Dunlops Bar etc.
Sun 26th - The Rhins of Galloway, South Ayrshire Coastal Route and Moors, @ 125 miles.
Mon 27th - Machars Coastal Route, Galloway Forest Park, Raiders Road Forest Drive ( approx 7 miles on gravel), Loch Ken, Solway Coastal Route to Gretna. @ 140 miles. From there easy access to M74/M6 for trip home.
None of the days are particularly long (NI is latest finish due to ferry times), routes, stops etc can obviously be changed to suit what you guys want to see.
Accomodation will be £20 per person per night including a breakfast (twin rooms - so sharing). PM me for accomodation contact details, limited rooms available so if you are definately coming, book now. Off road parking for the bikes.
Can I ask those wanting to come, pm me and I will give you accomodation details then update attendee list below.

Would it be possible to make this thread a sticky so that people who are new to the forum get to see it ?
Not a bad idea, i assume a mod would hav to do that?
Still far too many days to go until then.... might have a wee run up to Applecross before August![]()
If you are staying in the camp site, try and get one of the wooden pods (rather than a tent). There is a wee restaurant in the camp site, but it is pretty expensive for a breakfast!
The Applecross Inn serves fantastic food and is reasonably priced.
When you leave, dont head back over the Bealach, head north up the coast. Stop in at Sand Bay and visit Monty Halls bothy from 'The Great Escape'. Ride bikes down towards bothy, past tarred car park. Bothy open to have a wee look in. The coast road is stunning if you get the weather. Follow coast to Shieldaig, Gairloch, Gruinard then Ullapool. If you do get as far as Ullapool and then head South again on the A835 (I think), Corrieshalloch Gorge worth a wee stop. The Indian in Ullapool isnt licenced but does a damned good curry.
It really is a fantastic run. I keep going back time and again.
unfortunetly nerald wont be able to make the trip in august which means there is a space going at the BB any one need a bed ???

It seems to be a little costly friends guess it would burn a hole in my pocket.
Hey this sounds like it could be a blast. Not sure about the gravel bit as I haven't been on gravel much only a bit of green laneing on the capo.
Just put the dates in my calendar so I can get the time off work. Are there still places left?
Will probably just be me but i'll speak to the mrs to see if she would like to come along.
