    Exclamation Style-vio oil leak sorted...

As you know I missewd out on the recent splash and dash hoon due to an oil leak, well this is where I'm at with it..

The bike is ready and being delivered to my door tomorrow. I've spoken with the mechanic and he says it wasn't a seal or a gasket, he said some guzzis were fitted with over size (too long by a smidge) bolts which stopped some housing (clutch ?) pulling up tight (certain engine numbers) When the rep saw the photos he agreed it could be done under warranty and supplied a kit to do the job.

While they had the bike stripped they noticed the swingarm/shaft (?) bearings were showing sings of wear so they replaced them.

Sounds plausable to me but I'm not a guzzi head, yet, so what do you chaps think?

So tell me about the greatness of shaft drives again?
    Bikes:
    2007.5 Tuono-Black, with 1102cc's of micah's badness!
2012 Griso-Silver and black, Agostini pipe, some carbon bits.
2006 Vespa GT200-bitubo suspension all around, Malossi big-bore, head and cam, Akrapovic pipe, all put together by Micah.

gone 2002 Caponord-Oyster gray (as faithful as a hound dog)
gone Futura-Red (on the AF1 showroom floor. Get some.)

The more I learn about people, the more I appreciate rocks.

No chain lube needed, no adjustment needed, can't rip yer fingers off..

Anyway, what's the problem, there's nothing wrong with the shaft, it's just the rest of the bike...

Seme early 8V's had this issue with leakage from the rear main flange. The cause is twofold, firstly the bolt used was slightly too long preventing the flange from being pulled down to compress the gasket, secondlt around that perticular bolt hole is a locating dowel sealed by an o-ring. The inability to crush the o-ring further enhanced the leak.

As for the swingarm bearings? At Mandello theyonly ever have one, small, grease-pot open at a time. Now the workers being Italian don't like getting dirty at the best of times but the idea of applying grease to anything is complete anaethma so wherever the grease-pot is it is the factory it is very quickly passed on to another area, probably with a sigh of relief. Once empty it can take upto a decade to order a replacement from stores! It has always been thus!! Next time it goes in for a service get them to grease the shock linkage bearings too. They'll be as dry as a nun's chuff as well.

Thanks pete. while I'm here, do you know anything about the side stand issue, I understand there is a US stand that leans further than stock but not as far as the breva stand they have sent me as a replacement.

Sorry? You had a problem with your sidestand? So they sent you one for a completely different motorbike? Is that what you're saying?

I already have two blank firing knackers ta, so not in need of any more at the moment, but thanks for the offer.
I'll keep my future options open if that's OK?...might be handy if Mrs Tifa decides to relieve me of any of mine for any future transgressions...

Glad to hear you will be back on the road soon Windy, let's hope you get a fine weekend to get out and about.
You really only need three things for bike maintenance
If it moves and it shouldn't - Duct tape
If it doesn't move and it should - WD40
...and if it falls off and you want to reattach it - Cable ties.

Yes, I think its off a breva, anyway it leans over so far I can get my knee down with the engine not even running I have the one that came off so I'll have some one do a bit of bending and welding to see if i can make it work.

Cheers Chris, was hoping to get out with Donna, over to Steve's, but it's a bit windy and rainy and there's weather warning out so it's staying in the garage...
