Yeah I'll probably regret it, but Fut is up for sale

I never thought this would happen but my Fut is up for sale, along with all the spares and accessories I have collected over the years. Advert is here.

It's been a combination of things from the practical - starting my own business and still having a job means I have no time, and my health issue last year means I have to put time aside for exercise - mountain biking as it happens.

It's not been helped by the predicament of one of my very good friends who nearly died coming off his Ducati in July and is still facing a long, long road to recovery. Having ridden on the road for 25 years and visiting him in hospital it makes me think about things a bit more than I would.

In any case the Futura has sat in the garage all year and with money being tight I couldn't even afford to put it on the road, and it needs to be used.

There is an outside chance I might put it back on the road next year if it doesn't sell, as I'm not in a hurry yet, but it's unlikely.

Anyway, thanks to you all for your help, advice, meet ups, and friendship over the years.

The website will stay live but I don't have much time to add to it right now. If anyone wants to get in touch and I can discuss arranging access.

    The bike is advertised here.

No sarky comments about how much I'm asking from the tyre kickers among you.

Many, many thanks for the web site. One of the main reasons I bought my bike.

Good luck, you'll be back, riding a bike makes a coke habit seem like fancying something savoury

Sorry to here it Pat, only done a couple of thousands last 2 years due to health issues myself.

All the best for the future.

PS. Hope you get what you want for the Futura Pat, but around here I couldn't even get a trade against a newer bike earlier this year (Guzzi Norge), "that's better off on ebay mate" was it.

Cheers guys. Still not 100 per cent sure but it seems the common sense thing to do.

However, I think Phil sums up the situation rather well.

Bad news for the futura owners community, hope we will see you back on the road next year. You have created a futura monument with your site, hope it will stay live a long time.
Life is a long bumpy way. Keep contact & good luck.

    Pat

Very sorry to hear you're having to sell the Futura for unfortunate reasons. Must be a wrench, especially as you've been pretty instrumental in developing appreciation of these bikes through your website - which incidentally I've been trawling through for some time - very informative site, so well done on that. I've been considering trading up my VFR750 for one of these, but won't be in a position to do so until next year. If you sell the Futura before then, I hope it goes to an appreciative buyer, but if not, as I'm Shropshire based too, I wonder if I could pop over at some stage to talk "Futura". Never ridden one, but by all accounts it does everything better than the VFR, except fuel economy unfortunately :-(. Certainly looks like you've kept yours in fabulous condition, which regardless of spares I guess is why you're asking top end for it.

Hi Rene. You will be most welcome. PM me or drop me a line via the website if you want to come and have a look.

I doubt very much it'll sell in a hurry anyway but if I wasn't thinking of giving up on biking altogether I wouldn't even consider selling my Fut. It's never missed a beat and has been the best bike I ever owned.

And no, Neil. No way would I do pillion. Too much of a control freak!
