    Directv dropping speed channel??

I know this is small stuff compared to what happened today, but if you have Directv, you won't be able to watch Speed anymore, as of Nov 1st. According to Speed channels own website. What a blunder! Glad I have Dish... http://www.keepmynets.com/

It is a pissing contest between Fox and DirecTV. They are in the middle of negotiations for a new contract, the previous one expired on 30 Sept., and DirecTV has fired first in the attempt to get the other guys to concede in the talks.

It is not the first time this has happened between DirecTV and someone, but I think this is the first time DirecTV initiated the "threat" to drop the channels of the others.

If the channels go dark, like G4 permanently and Versus temporarily, I will dump DirecTV immediately. I am one of their original customers and they have really pissed me off recently.

In late 2009 Directv dropped Versus. I missed the entire 2010 Dakar 'cause of that shit. They like to blame it on the other guy but that's not the way I see it. Never heard of anyone else having these issues. When the big 3 (and Fox) networks won in court the right to charge Directv had no local channels available for quite some time. It's the way they negotiate contracts apparently.

Huh? That would really suck. I was strongly considering switching to DirecTV because I was impressed with their HD quality...this would be a deal breaker.

Currently I have AT&T U-Verse. The overall service is incredible but the HD quality is unacceptably bad. I really don't want to switch back to comcast...Ick.

    Interesting.
I install Fios. Most of the HD looks really good but some tv sets it looks a little blurry or very slightly out of focus.
I have not been able to determine any pattern or cause for this blurrines.

    I had the same problem.
I had them rewire the incoming wire box (from pole to house) and the picture was incredible.

    Keep on them.

Also, make sure the box is selected to deliver HD and not 780

I'm satisfied with FIOS so far. Picture quality for HD is great (especially compared to the SD channels) on my HD TV at least which isn't the top of the line.

Though watching SBK races on SPEED HD, the picture quality sucks but that's due to SBK's feed. MotoGP on HD looks great.

Very fast internet connection. No real buffering when streaming movies, especially when streaming from Xbox live or FIOS on demand.
