    RaceTech Shock

Yes it is some money but you said whole Futura is a good price but it will still have bottom of the line suspension. I have a few thousand miles now with the RaceTech upgrade and its the best thing I have done on this bike..

I got a call from my suspension guy last week. Turns out he was in the process of doing one of these shocks on a Futura and wanted to know the best way to pull the stock shock and install the new one. I was amused that a suspension guy would call ME to ask!

Amused, but surprised? Howe many Futuras do these guys see? I'll bet that 5 minute talk with you saved him a half-hour or more.

Good to hear. Have you done anything with the front end? It's time for me to do some suspension work or get a new bike. Test rode a Sprint and a 1200R and realized the RST is still one hell of a bike!

Bringing this one back up to the top. Has anyone else bought the RaceTech since Lynnup? Other priorities popped up before I could buy one. I will have a new rear shock for next year, either this one or a Penske.

My thought is go for the little guy.. Penske does not need any more money and I think RaceTech could. I'm still happy with mine.. just my thought

I know of one Futura in North Carolina that has one fitted up by Cogent Dynamics.

    Meanstrk,

Yep, that's my Futura that's fitted with the RaceTech shock + Ohlins valves and RaceTech springs in the forks. It was pricey, but definitely worth the money. The bike tracks like it's on rails, and the front and rear actually work together now rather than fighting each other through the corners. Rick at Cogent Dynamics did a great job and had the suspension dialed in pretty well when I went to pick it up. We fine tuned the suspension with a shake out ride.

I purchased the Brembo brake and clutch master cylinders and braided steel lines kit from AF1. They should be going on in the next couple of weeks.

    Regards,
    Dave

I'm currently talking with Rick at Cogent Dynamics about my bike. He is suggesting I send the forks to him for Ohlins internals and doing the RaceTech shock. I'm definitely going to send him the forks but am not sure I need all that shock. But he did mention your bike, Dave, and said it is amazing. He said it felt like it lost 150 lbs after the suspension work.

    kurts,
Curious when you say Ohlins internals, are going to run the 20mm Ohlins valves or something more?
I have run that setup but it was not sorted properly by the guy I had doing my work previously.
It is funny my bike is now the opposite of Dave's in that I am running an Ohlins shock revalved and resprung, and now I am running a set of Ractech 25mm cartridges in the Mille forks.

You know Terry, I don't honestly know yet. It was referred to as an Ohlins "kit" but we haven't gone into the details yet. Once I'm ready he says to give him a call and we'll discuss the particulars. This is still in the planning stage and I'm still trying to determine what I need. Regardless, I'll pull the forks next week and get them shipped off.

    Kurt,

The Ohlins kit uses 20mm valves, but you've got to replace the springs, too. I took Rick's recommendation and used RaceTech springs up front to go along with my RaceTech shock in the rear.

If you're going to do suspension work, you might as well do both. You will never truly get the performance gains you're looking for if you only fix half the bike's suspension. One of the best things about the work on my bike is that it made the front and rear feel like they were finally working together instead of fighting each other.

    Regards,
    Dave
