    Exclamation Warning: Check the bolts on the flywheel

    Hi guys

    My generator/dynamo has been totally smashed, because one of the three bolts who the flywheel, has come loose and broke of..

    See the pictures

    Here is the remainings of the generator

    Looks nasty.......;
    If i'm not mistaken it was known for the early Futura's to have this risk as well . My dealer said so and changed the bolts on warranty back then , now ......being almost the same engine.......

    early futuras had that problem? Has any one heard of it on early milles? Mine is a 2000

    Old thread but still...

    I was just surfing around the forum a couple of days ago and saw this! Thougt it was a good idea to check my own flywheel! I picket up my bike from my winter storage and drowe her home last thursday. On the way home the bike died! Guess what had happent!

    Check your flywheel ppl! I'v been in contact with AF1 by mail now and they will send the parts to me in Norway! Nice ppl!

    Sorry for the bad english!

    Too much beer at lunch I think. Lack of attention to details. These bolts are supposed to be installed with 648 green Loctite. Perhaps the need for Loctite was not determined till the 2001 production run. Did your bolts appear to have Loctite on them?

    Now you guys got me thinking about checking a 2002 RSV R Mille? hmmm Hard to check these bolts?

    @Modifyd4: No.. Not really... I drained the oil and removed the oil tank. Remove the cover of engine... 10-12 bolts... Then you will see the flywheel...

    KZ, that pic seems to show that the socket head has sheared off, difficult to tell but the threaded portion still in place looks like a 'clean' break. Is this possible rather than being wrenched off by the stator?
