    What an upgrade!

I just up graded my sister from a no-name 49cc to a satin black 2012 vespa gts super 300.What an upgrade. One week later oil poured out.She checked the oil filter and it had a puncture with an indentation in the filter. The hole was the size of a regular screwdriver tip. Before this happen we noticed a smell when we first started the bike and noticed it for several days.It only had 3 miles on when we recieved it.We attributed this smell to new oil on new engine parts.Does this sound correct to any one? Thanks in advance.

A punctured oil filter is definitely not normal. Some "break in" smell and a small amount of smoke coming off the hot parts is normal in the first 10-50 miles however.

    puntured oil filter

Thanks,we are still in shock about the oil filter.Oil went everywhere because she was riding when it happened. She is still trying to clean up her brand new (still beautiful) GTS 300.
