86cc Malossi Replica Build... In progress

The owner gave me permission to post his build so I will keep this thread open and document what goes into this. The Scoot arrives in the morning and the Malossi parts are already ordered. I will be finishing the current 86cc PFI Piaggio build while this block is out for machining and powder coating.

Myself and the owner both have a pretty good idea of the direction it will take right down to the Malossi paint scheme above.

I will need to speak with Dynojet as they say the Scooter Dyno is 30HP and 109 mph... I have a really good feeling I will be exceeding the 109 mph.

If that happens, and you send Malossi (and post on You Tube as well) Video “proof” of that speed, I have a funny feeling that your work load may just increase (and NOT just from within the US!!)!!!!

I would also think that they just may want to come vist you and your shop after a posting like that!!

If it wasnt so expensive to ship, id send all my work there. there has been 2 sr50's for sale localy lately that were failry cheap, semi rare schemes, and would make killer PFI conversions. one was a harada, the other was that banana yellow. both were 2000 carb models..... I am still contemplating one of them,

can you imagine going that fast on 12 in wheels? scary eh? I awlays thought a malossi rep would be rockin

Even with your 1:1 gears? Without the variator transitioning mph is determined by engine rpm, I wouldn't think you're turning enough rpm to hit 109?

I can hit 100 true MPH now with my Harada at 14,500 rpm and that has a mild primary gear set only. The Malossi Replica will be geared up on the primaries and secondaries.

I don't doubt for a second you'll hit 109 with the variator, just don't know why you would dyno through it when you have the 1:1 gears available. What's top gear in the variator, 5:1 maybe? To hit 109 through the 1:1 you'd have to be geared to 500mph through the variator.
