Even after my own Tuneboy remap and Dyno tuning ,
I'm still on getting 215-230mls per tank to the amber light,
and thats a mixture of 80mph motorway & slow city traffic every single day on the 72 miles round trip to work.

I've pushed it another 25 miles on reserve, confident that she'll carry me another 30-35 miles until its completely dry, I haven't verified the reserve mileage for a long while, although I'm testing it alot

How many litres do you put in the tank when you fill up Joey?
Last fill for me was 190 miles for 19 litres, would like to know if thats similar to what you get?

I don't know why I've never seen you. I go into SF from I 80 to Octavia to Fell to stanyan. Then out Fulton to Park Presidio to the bridge and up to 37. Usually I go in by 05:45 But I may not leave until 16:30 pr later.

    tank fillup

I squeezed in 22.87 litres (€40) the other day, it had been running on the amber at this stage for around 15+ mls..
But I usually refill at the amber light and get about 21-22 litres in.

So maybe your fuel comsumption is alright after all, for 21 litres, you'd get 210 mls and thats close to spec.

See if you can squeeze in 21 litres and check it mileage.

Just checked my little book of words from my last trip and the averages over 3,600miles worked out as:-

    Avg Mpg: 44.6 - Best = 46, Worst = 42

Avg refill (Litres): 20.35 - most = 21.7 Fuel light on at about 18-19 litres.

Mind you, €33-€35 a refill gets a bit tedious these days!

Conti TKC80's were swapped for Anakee2's but still running 16t sprocket and barn door luggage!

It seemed that if you push much above 5,000rpm - where the Air/Fuel ratio drops off considerably, I've seen the mpg drop well south of 40mpg!

Last tank just under 30 mpg... 29.43 to be exact. Bike runs fine, have been I guess pretty heavy handed. Using restraint this tank to see what my max might be. Trying to keep around 4.5k rpm or below.

Start of summer here 30 Deg.c,very dry before the approaching wet season.
Anyway,I did just on 300 klms before refilling in the ranges west of here yesterday,
at that stage about half was on very hilly gravel roads through cattle stations & national parks.
My crappy 10k klm old rear tyre kept trying to dump me on pebbly sections, one slide would've
had Mr C.Stoner smiling but I was nearly crapping
I fought it & managed to keep up her up somehow.
Anyway, the up side of a carefull throttle was Av. 52.7 MP(UK)Gallons! 5.3L/100k on the still std? mapping, std gearing

Well it's interesting coming back to this thread. I have been low to mid 30's. About 34. I remapped to the 428 with catfish and ran half a bottle of injector cleaner, that tank 31 mpg.

Today filled up and recon I'm at 34 to 36 mpg on second. Running about 33 miles a day, 2/3 on highway. Speed wise on highway kinda quick, average traffic speed is 80-90 mph on highway (traffic speed, of course I am in the slow lane doing 65 max - as you can agree is prudent).

So tank 3 from change to the 428 map. Certainly there is an improvement with new map. Idle still hunts but is better, not sure how crappy chevron techron makes the bike run while it cleans the injectors, but seems like 10% loss easy, I get that.

    See how it goes.

    34-36mph at 65mph?!? That's what mine was doing BEFORE I re-mapped! YIKES!!!

Matt, like we noticed when you were here, your Capo requires a little twist of the throttle to start it. You should never need to touch the throttle to start a Caponord. That was a clue that something was still not right about your Capo. Your new fuel mileage also confirms this.

I'd be looking for a bad connection in one of the coil circuits, a kinked fuel return line, or maybe you need to clean the airbox & throttle bodies like Stu did.

Keep digging Matt, and good luck!

Well say I was not in the slow lane and was doing the 80-90 mph traffic flow. Is 34 to 36 a more reasonable number?

Next time she comes apart I will run down the vacuum lines and loot at the TB, etc. Since the remap from 429 to 428, I don't find I have to give her a cracked throttle to start and runs quite well. I know pretty much exactly where the front wheel will come off the ground in 2nd. In first I never get that far up the range or goose it.

Is this with your saddlebags on the Capo? At 90mph + bags this is closer to normal for my maps. Cruising at 75-80mph with my bags & everything, I get 40-44mpg depending on headwinds & grades.

You have checked your tire pressures lately, right?

Oh, its starting now without touching the throttle? YEA!!! Maybe the injector cleaner is slowly working. :-) Let us know if you see any further improvement with the next few tanks of gas.

Yeah, be careful. Mine will wheelie at 2500rpm in 1st gear at sea level with only a quick twist of the throttle. Smooooooth throttle operation & a forward lean of your upper torso will keep the front tire on the ground. Until 6000rpm anyway.
