Let us know how they work compared to the OEM Ohlins.
Received the new AIM Solo DL yesterday.
AIM Solo DL is a laptimer and datalogger, that can connect to AIM SmartyCam and the bike's ECU.
Comes with a nice bracket, and the Solo has magnets on the back, so it just clicks on the bracket.
The electrical connection is very easy - needs 12v and CAN+/CAN-
The CAN connection can be accessed at the ECU or the display-connector.
The software RaceStudio2 is very comprehensive and usefull.
Some pictures:
In this picture you can see the channels that are available from the ECU.
I have requested to add some more channels: TPS, TC, Front_speed, Rear_speed.

This weekend we raced at the old Swedish Superbike track, Anderstorp.
Forks worked very well, very confident....could steer where I wanted to.
This was also the first time I used the modified map, and I must admit it was worth the waiting.
The old level 1 is now level 4, so 3 new low levels is introduced.
Started in level 2, and when I got comfortable with it, I switched to level 1.
It's now actually possible to drift out of corners....totally controlled and comfortable.
Comments from the other racers was...WAU...and then: how the f*ck did you do that ..??..

Hey aarfeldt -
What's the word from AIM on the added channels? That Solo DL looks a lot simpler than going with the EVO4.
Also, I remember you saying you got the map from Aprilia Racing - so you know if that is something you need an inside connection to get, or just ask them?
Cheers
Nick

No word from AIM yet - but we just did the request some days ago :-)
Btw - the AIM software is very usefull, and it actually helped me finding some 0.2 seconds here and there.
Will provide screenshots soon.
The modified map is custom made, to someone who knows someone inside Aprilia Racing.
Don't think they will make it public - might void warranty on the bike.

aarfeldt did you calibrate the aprc when you swapped from a tyre to the other one?
seems that if the tc was so aggressive at level 1 the calibration might not have been made... because at level 1 tc i nearly never felt it working even when giving lot of gas
Sure....every time I change tyre or gearing - which in practice means daily.
Btw - we have this information from the modified map:
The calibration procedure now is shorter the previous one, but is very important to do it if you have changed your tires or the final ratio. Remember that after the calibrating is finished, you have to switch off the key and wait 40 seconds.
To help the calibrating you can use the rear brake to stabilize the speed
(40Km/h, second gear), holding the gas position steady.

This is the first video recorded with my old SmartyCam connected to the AIM Solo datalogger.
The brake/throttle overlay did not work as expected - has to play a little more with the system :-)
I think the video-quality is not as good as newer Contour systems - maybe it will improve a bit, if I make a better mount.
This was just taped to the fairing - testing.
Sound is horrible.

Dude, what happened at the start?Well done coming through the pack like that, though!
It was a bit depressing to see the R1 pulling you on the straights, even though you were getting him on the brakes.

Absolutely an improvement....can now push much harder with good confidence.
First I did not notice, but later I noticed how easy I could steer anywhere I wanted.
The suggested settings was a very good starting point - the only thing I adjusted was adding 20ml oil.
The oil-level is very low on these units (185mm), so we can add to get it harder at the bottom of the stroke.

Well....AIM returned, and since they don't have a aPRC to test on, they send me some files, so I could try to locate some channels.
During the weekend, I have located channels for:
- handlebar TPS.
- ECU corrected TPS (might have a more correct name).
- TC, WC, LC levels.
- Lean angle + acceleration.
- Lift angle + acceleration (wheelie/stoppie).
- Front and rear wheel speed.
We are still looking for TC_Active.
