    service warning

How do you get the display to stop printing the service warning? I have been through more than 3 heat cycles. Is there a button combo I need to push?

When this light is on, is the bike in a limp home mode or anything or does it affect the way the ecu delivers air/fuel/timing?

Does not affect anything. Read the manual- it has a button combo to get rid of it. It just goes off of mileage from the last time of reset. Cant remember the combo off the top of my head, but it does not hurt anything.

to make the word "SERVICE" disappear, press the "LAP" push button and simultaneously press the "R" push button and keeping them depressed for about 5 minutes.

    nah, it's 5 seconds seriously!

Check the "Tech Tips" of the forum.
Avoiding danger is no safer in the long run than outright exposure... Life is either a daring adventure or nothing.

    Thanks.

I bought the bike used and need to get a copy of the owners manual. I'll check the tech tips area.

Max, I don't understand your smilies at the end of your statement. I was being serious when I said thanks for the info. My second statement was directed at scooter who was telling me to read the manual and RVzoo who was telling me to check the tech tips area in the future.

mine just went on again, just a little shy of 14,000 miles.....had a dealer do a tune-up back around 10,000 miles...so I guess they must of reset it then....maybe they want me to bring it in for an oil change....but I do those myself......I'm just going to reset it again....

I always thought that when the sevice light went on it meant that the local dealer was slow and they needed the work...(jk)

ok seriously, the service warning comes on at the first 600 miles (1,000 km) and after every 4,650 miles (7,500 km).

I haven't changed my dang dash back to US specs after it's last reset, man that redline warning light is bright!
