Does anyone have the USA support number for Aprilia customer support? I want to talk to Aprilia personally about the gas in the oil situation.

I talk with Richard last week about it. He called back with suggestion to take the scoot to; Barney's in St Petersburg, Fl. 2 1/2 hr. drive from me but THE #1 dealer with knowledge and equipment to cure it's ills.
I've not been yet, but another local owner just got his scoot back from them for the gas in oil problem. He was told the venting / polution plumbing was done incorrectly from the set up dealer, and the fuel injection was running rich. The suggestion for getting a better reading when checking the oil, was to NOT screw the dipstick in, but put it straight in to touch the thread , then straight back out, and the actual full level should show between the two marks using this method. Say's it's running fine now.

Just checked my oil using this easier method. Looks like it will be more accurate.

That last piece of information is huge, because there is about an inch of threading on the dipstick.
If the dipstick is not meant to be threaded, I am not as overfull as I thought. At the same time, there are many who may be underfilled as a result of this information.
I need to pull the manual and see how it shows the best way to check the oil.
Bruce, The dipstick IS ment to be threaded completely for a acurate full reading at the top mark of the stick. What the service tech is saying is that your subtracting that thread deapth which is about a half inch down from the full mark when not screwing it in, but just touching the thread and back out.
I know whenI try to screw the thing in straight, it will always wabble a little, or a lot which will throw the correct mark off.
I tried it both ways. He's right.

Thanks for the clarification. I checked the manual and it says to fully thread the dip stick, but I now understand how the other method works the same.
This still means that my oil is way over-filled, and that it is gasoline doing it. I didn't get a chance to call Aprilia today, but I will tomorrow and I'll post what they tell me.
My scooter is in the shop for a similar problem..I had extreme loss of power and oil dripping during exceleration. I took in into the shop and they noted that the oil level was over full. I reffered them to this site for the discussion going on and they called a few other shops.
The word I have right now is that it is a problem with the
Oil screen ($6.00 part). When I get it back I will get details and post it here...
Well Newb,
I've always heard that overfull was just as bad as running low on oil. Being overfull causes excess pressure in the crankcase and blows out seals. Like crankshaft (causing oil to go places it need not be), and valve guide seals which will blow oil into the intake and exhaust ports (oil smoke, consumption and fouled plugs).
Lets hope it hasn't went that far for any of us yet.

The oil is showing over full..this is true...but as with others have posted on this problem there is additional fluid (gas or whatever) coming from somewhere...level was correct when the shop changed it and nothing had been added...
I called Aprilia Wednesday and got Richard's voice mail. I left a message, but have not received a return call yet. I hope to hear from them Friday or I will call again.
I'm pretty sure Richard is on vacation through mid-april.
Yes, he is on vacation. I called this morning and his voice mail indicated he wouldn't be back until April 13.
I spoke to a customer service rep who said nothing more than call your dealer, and she confirmed my warranty at 2 years instead of 1.
I have an appointment to drop the bike off next Thursday.
