    Rear brake mutation?

For anyone who's changed the Bird's rear brake setup over to the Mille/RSV/Tuono configuration, how difficult was it and how much did it cost? To me it looks like a pretty straightforward, bolt-on transformation as long as you get all the right parts, but that's just going from schematics and assumptions. Any "gotchas" to watch out for? How is the final result working for you? Thanks

Why would you change the perfect setup of a falco to the troublesome setup of an RSV?

The forum is full of rsv owners (including me) with rear brake problems and only very few Falco owners with rear brake problems.

On my Falco the rear brake worked for years without any maintenance.

Maybe I just got lucky, but I went from a fine working Falco set-up, to a fine working Tuono (RSV) set-up.

You need somewhere to mount the Res. On the Tuono/RSV it mounts on a tab on the back of the coolant tank (I believe), no such tab on the Falco unit. I just got a new piece of hose and mounted the Res in the stock Falco place and fished the hose down to the new MC.

Besides that it is very straight-forward. You'll need: Lever, MC, Mounts for both, & the Line.

I'd do it to open up more options for rearsets (I like the Woodcrafts for the Tuono/RSVR), but not at the expense of mechanical issues and gremlins. I'll do some searching on the RSV rear brake problems so you don't have to repeat them here. Thanks for the input MM

Thanks LC I've seen pics of Nooj's as well and it looks like he did the change. Hopefully he'll chime in as well.

The Clear Line running over the Clutch Cover is the one that runs up to the Res.

Looking at some of the posted pics of this setup I'm wondering if exhaust header heat could be contributing to the rear brake issues that RSV and Tuono owners are having. Not sure I'd really want to cook my brake fluid like that... Bill, your setup looks like it places the m/c a bit further away from the header from other pics I've seen, or the Falco headers are in a different spot than the RSV/Tuono - maybe this is helping yours to stay problem-free...? Thoughts?

The rear brake on my Mille was crap when I bought it. Cleaned the caliper, bled the brakes, no issues since.
