Keep blowing number 1 auxiliary fuse

Problem is my rxv 550 will die when running and when I try a restart there is no power to the start button, no neutral light and the fuel pump won't prime.
I found this is happening because it is blowing the number 1 7.5 amp fuse in the fuse box on the right hand side. Problem is I can't find what may be shorting and blowing the fuse.

If anyone has any ideas on how to fix this that would be great thanks.

check where the speedo sensor cable comes up the forks, mine rubbed through and was shorting out and blowing the fuse.

I had the kill switch wiring short and this caused the fuse to blow. I think the general consensus is check the wires, it should hopefully be pretty easy to spot.

Did you ever find the problem thomasfowler ? I just experienced the same problem on my sxv550. Only difference is all the fuses are good on my bike!

Before you say the fuse is good, put it on a meter to check it. Mine had a hairline crack that was barely noticeable to the naked eye. It looked more like the metal failed due to vibration or something more than it was a zolt and metal melt. Those ARE technical terms. Someone on here told me to check with a meter. Low and behold...well, you can figure out the rest...use a meter.

I had the same problem with mine when I had chopped off the tail section and mounted my plate higher. The license plate light wires were not properly taped off and I kept blowing a fuse until I found it.

Thanks for the comments guys. I always use a meter to check fuses. Today I toggled my IGN switched and on the second try everything seemed normal! I will need to study the wiring harness diagram to prepare for future trouble......
