Can a LX150 climb?
My wife is interested in a pink LX150 but it needs to be able to climb a 1/2 mile 15% grade. Both of the streets into my neighborhood are very steep and there's no other option. Can a 150 make it?
Thanks!![]()

Did not want to be the one who answered but there should be no problems hill climbing on the 150cc engine in your hood!

There's almost limitless potential for smartass, spouse-insulting questions or comments in this thread. Gawd, if you'd posted such a question on the WERA board...Typical of the Aprilia Forum, nobody has jumped on this easy target. That's why I love it here. Hope your wife has a fantastic time on her new scooter!

Yeah well this the scooter part of the forum afterall....
The first wife tried to ride my '83 Yamaha Vision 550 and ran into a Camaro back in '84. This version of wife isn't going anywhere near the FZ1 or the R6. Hell she can barely drive a car...
Thanks, she will love it and has no idea.
So Micah sounds like a go. What kinda financing does Vespa offer?

You know scooters don't stall out the way a motorcycle in too high a gear would do. You will slow down, but even a 50cc will make it and not lose control. I live on a steep hill and have a 50 cc Aprilia Sportcity. I have to start out from a 4-way stop. It slows down to 8 mph at the steepest part. If someone comes up behind me, I just move over and let them pass. I drive it up my driveway in full control at 2 mph. A 150 is a very good choice and it would slow down on that hill to maybe 35 mph. If it's only a half mile, you could use any scooter. If the speed limit on a steep hill is say 55 mph, you would need a 250 to not lose speed going up it though. If you like the 150 I would get that cause you know lots of vehicles slow down going up hills..trucks, buses, small cars, etc., and moving to a 250 works, but mileage goes down, initial cost goes way up and it's more power than you need unless you are going on the interstate.
