Nice day for a Recall ,Transport Q's

It was unseasonably warm today in W Michigan and my wife had to go to Grand Rapids for doctor's appointment with our daughter. So I decided to finally take my 2007 500 ie in for the fuel hose recall.

40 miles to the dealer, temp in the low 50's. Scoot rode absolutely perfect. It was had to get it starting, cranking for about 12 sec. after sitting for 3 weeks.

They said it would take about two weeks, since they need to order recall parts, etc. It might be snowing before they're done with it...

If its bad weather when I need to pick it up, how have others done this? Its not obvious to me where one would strap to the scoot if you put it in the bed of a small pickup. If it comes to this, do dealers usually let you use their ramps to load?

BTW, the dealer had a "New 2009" MP3 400 sitting there - looked real good, but I did not ask the price.

When I sold my Vespa recently, the kid who bought it rented a motorcycle trailer from U-haul for $15 a day. He strapped her on & off he went. When I bought the Vespa, my son & I loaded it in his pick-up & strapped it in. It was 100 lbs lighter than the Scarabeo 500ie & getting it in was dicey (we took planks to ride up on). I would highly recommend renting the trailer--it was a piece of cake!

    gnonne,

Next time, instead of cranking 12 seconds until it starts - crank for the normal amount of time (1-2secs). If it doesn't start, crank again and it will probably hit immediately. Just seems to be the way electronic fuel injection engines work.

This is indeed now mine behaves. If it doesn't fire off straight away, it will on the next try.

Yep! That's exactly how mine behaves. She just likes to get tickled twice!

Mine does the same thing. If I just hold the button it'll crank in about 5-6 seconds. If I tap the button then hit it again, it cranks in 1-2 seconds. I guess it's just normal.

Weird thing is, this has a very similar engine to the MP3 500 and it cranks first time every press. Weird.

The MP3 may start faster because, although it uses the basic Piaggio master engine, the 500 series has two spark plugs and a totally different ignition system.
