    Triple Threat Racing

Well the season is about to start here in Colorado and this new
area on the Forum is a great place to announce our new team.

Triple Threat Racing (t3r), consists of Dr Erik Zingler , MRA #110, Jay Hollman, MRA #337, and Matt Whetten, MRA #333. Erik is riding a 2000 Mille in sprint classes and a KTM525sx in super motard, myself a 2002 Mille in sprints, and Matt is riding a new 2004 R-6 and also another KTM525sx in the supermotard class. We are very excited about the upcoming year and hope some of you stop by and say hello, perhaps buy a T-shirt.

Background: Dr Zingler is a succesful Optometrist in the Denver area, I am an Air Traffic Controller and TERPS specialist, Mr Whetten is the proprietor of Rays Collision Center in Castlerock Co. Dr Z started racing last year and was up to speed very quickly, Matt started the previous year and is very quick having allready being upgraded to expert here in the MRA. Myself, I've been doing this a while with a few breaks, ahem, interupting my participation in this awsome sport since 86. I started in RZ350s and worked my way up as my wife and I moved around the country with the military. Won a quite a few races in the mid ninetys on ZX7s and had alot of fun in WERA, went to the GNF at Road Atlanta several years. Decided to get back into it while sitting in a tent in Pakistan in 02 and came home and baught a Mille. Last year was a little bit of a write off due to my deployment to Afghanistan but I will be here for the whole Enchilada this year.

We are also proud to announce we will be trackside vendors of Nutec racing fuels. Our website, still under construction but coming along well is www.triplethreatracing.com,, the bikes will be given same day back to back dyno runs with Nutec fuels and posted on the website to show gains available with this awsome fuel.

Hey guys! I look forward to meeting you maybe August 7-8 as the SMRI circuit goes up to La Junta. Maybe we could all stir it up a little and you could show me the track.

    Good luck on the season.

    Scooter,
that would be great. Looking at my MRA schedule, it looks like we are at LaJunta "seca" the following weekend of Aug 14-15. Maybe I should come down the weekend prior and get some track time on the thing as I have not been there either.
Your club allow members with other liscenses for a fee?

Jay- Yeah, that date will be the La Junta portion of the SMRI series

    check out www.smri-racing.org

I think they will hit you with a $25 fee for racing in their club without their club license, but I know they waived it for me last year when I presented my ASMA license and they new I was no points threat only hitting 2 races for the year. Maybe they will hook you up and not ding the fee on you.

I have never set foot on La Junta, so I would be showing up to race on a foreign track. Reading your post you have not raced there either? Maybe between the two of us we could figure it out in time?

Just keep the date in mind. Hopefully we could meet up there. It probably would be a good idea for you since your MRA date is the following weekend.

No.. bone stock motor and throttle bodies. Doin it the hard way, baby!

Clarkie has yet to respond to my pleas for a free 100mm piston engine.

Cool, Clarkie! At the end of this season I will be deciding what to do. If I have to purchase a new/used 04-05 mille, I may not have the dough. But if I keep my bike, I will DEFINITELY keep that in mind.

Another reason I am relying on your race reports this year.

OK, since that smarta$$ comment lured in Clarkie to respond, maybe this will work:

And Aprilia has yet to respond with my pleas for a 04 Factory to run for the season........... hello? Aprilia USA take notice......

    Big Pistons

    Scooter,

well all I can say is DO IT!, unfortunately it will mean some down time for the motor and you have allready started riding but the difference is just incredible. I think my dyno run said it was making something like 81.5 ft/lbs of torque. Of course like a dumbass I didn't have the heads done by Ladesma as I'd planned before putting it back together, sure wish I had now but I was pressed for time and didn't want to risk sending the heads out also and missing more races. She pulls very hard and linear from 5500 to 10k where I shift only because the light comes on, I am sure she would twist right past 11.5k, as I have done by accident a couple times, but I don't want to break anything. Plan for next winter is headwork and rods (carillos?) .
Only got to do 1 friggin race last year before leaving for the sand so I am in need of seat time bad and will try to run with your club the preceding weekend at LaJunta too.

Scooter: I've only raced the '00 Mille 2 weekends and now have the '04 RSVR. It's only my opinion, but the new bike does seem to be just that much better on track and a little easier to go fast on than the previous Mille's. Another local guy here had a previous Mille and rode mine when it was showroom stock. He said that my bike stock was better than his racebike ever was. I'm just giving out my own personal note. The last thing I want to do is lose Clarkie an engine customer. I think you should also get with Clarkie on that too...but try and invest in the new platform bike if you can. You are likely so used to yours by now that it may not make a difference worth getting a new bike. Or...just maybe by then I'll be wanting a new bike and will have a real nice used bike for sale and you could still afford the engine! ha! one never knows.

i totally agree, the 2004 bike is a lot better platform and with a decent airbox, pipes and race gas you can get 130hp really easily.

but the same principle applies with the 2004 bike as the 2000-2003, big pistons is the easiest way to get power.

our 2004 race bike will make around 145hp on race gas, teh magazine bike makes 136 on pump now without a decent map and just the tig slip-ons.

our next race bike that is almost finished will have a full system on it and a little more compression, i am shooting for 145hp, but 150hp is the golden number.

hey scooter, just to get you thinking about 2005 early, at least one of our race bikes will be for sale end of this year..........

For sale? Really? OK, that may answer all of my questions. I am hoping that it will be one of the R Factory with larger pistons?

145 HP at the wheel in an 04 sounds very interesting. OK, I will start saving money.

Thanks for all of the input on the new bike, guys. This should be a great season to monitor for everyone. This new forum area kicks ass!

no pictures yet but very soon. Spent all day saturday at the bodyshop with Matt getting the basecoat down and then all three colors and it took all day. Matt spent huge hours wetsanding it afterwards and applying another two coats of clear so now there are no longer any edges between the different colors. Looks beautiful and I am getting it all mounted again now. Shame its going to get all chipped and beat up!

    oops, posted twice.
Anyway, I'll be putting pictures of both bikes up soon, here and on the triple threat site. Also dyno sheets before and after of the Nutec fuel results.
