    Did i make a mistake?

I'm new to your fourm. I live out there in Las Vegas and i just picked up a RSV4 Factory and might i say i love it. I'm happy to report w/126 miles on it no problems.. So fare!! lol I just took it out to the Red Rock loop out here in vegas and i was surprised on how well it handled (no more chicken strips) i have a beemer s1000rr which is idiot proof to ride and a 1098s and the aprilia out handles both of them hands down.. Now that i kissed alittle ass with you guys which exhaust should i get? I have the austin racing on the bmw and i really like the way it looks (194.2 RWHP) and the akra is pretty sweet to.. I have a friend that works at dynojet so getting it mapped is not a problem for me. How is the download from aprilia if you get the akra pipe from them or are more people putting pc5? Thanks for your help!!

    Welcome to the forum.

Regardless of the exhaust you choose, you need the Race ECU before you are able to use the pc5.

The most popular exhaust seem to be the Austin Race, Akrapovic and LeoVince. There are quite a few other option floating around, like the Mivv, GPR and Smaltmoto for instance.

Whats the difference between the stock ecu and the race ecu? If you get the Akrapovic from aprilia you get the download and again what is the difference between the download and the race ecu?

I think you get a new race ECU and not a download...

Welcome, here is a Factory with the Leo-Vince slip on in carbon. great sound, no computer work. Or here it is in Ti. (same cost) on a "R". Also after 800 mile I dropped the front sprocket to a 15t. Wow, it needed it worse than I thought. Give it a try, stock chain works, so no drama if You want to go back.

The Race ECU can be bought separately and is optimized for performance, while the stock ECU is optimized for low emissions.
The Race ECU will also allow custom maps, so if you want to use a pc5 you need this ECU.

As stated above, you do not get a download, you get an ECU (the chip itself). It is included in the price of the Akra if you buy it from Aprilia, if not then you can buy it separately.

Hmm, my understanding was that (with the Akra/Aprilia pipes) you get an unlock code from Aprilia that is linked to your VIN number to use on the stock ECU to load the Race map and not an actual ECU.

correct, two different way to the same thing

you can buy the complete race ECU.....the Akra mapping is pre-loaded to another ECU. Has the advantage of you can sell the "box" later to someone else.

Or use an unlock code (supplied with Aprilia Akra pipes).....this unlocks your stock ECU to accept the loading of the Akra mapping.

    same mapping, same end result.

A Navi dealer computer is needed for either option so the handle and throttle self learning procedures can be done after the new mapping (or pre-mapped ECU) is installed.

If you download the map from aprilia on the stock ecu can you hook up a PC5 to it?

no PC5 exists for it.....the Bazzaz tuning box is the only thing available.

and yes, you should be on RACE mapping before tuning with any device.

they've been "working" on one for a long time now, even in the UK.....they cannot get the unique Aprilia injection system figured out....the way our double injectors fire is unique to our bikes. At the upper RPMS our shower injectors are the only thing squirting fuel.....most bikes use both inectors, and the shower is just a supplemental.

What wrong with Bazzaz? Most tuners favor that setup over DJ stuff, and you can add TC, and QS (DJ does QS too).
