    07 sxv 550 Question

    --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Ok so i over filled my 07 sxv 550 and ended up with oil in my air box. I have it apart to replace the oil pump seal and the new seal is not that much tighter on the shaft than the old one. Before I put it all back together and try it is there anything else I should look at while its apart that can empty your motor oil into your gear box and over flow to the air box.

I think that covers it. If is stock breather set up run the hot oil level (ride 20 min and then idle 2 min with bike straight up on level ground) at the min mark. Polish the FCV piston if it is scored or replace it. If it sticks closed high oil pressure can contribute to the pump seal failure. Also don't over rev it cold and get it off of the high idle and control it by hand as soon as it starts.
